The 49ers miss a 41 TD FG in the last minute, lose to the Browns 19-17, first loss of their year.

Solid Gould would not have missed it!

Guess the 49ers learned nothing from Da’ Bears!
IMO, the Brownies back up QB got bailed out by the missed FG. He had lots of green in front of him in the red zone, but must of thought he was in high school and recklessly through wildly into the nd zone. Luckily, it was not intercepted, but more importantly it stopped the clock for SF. Really stupid to not get down and milk some more clock.

NFL owners should not ***** about losing on a missed FG. They go cheap with kickers.

The Browns were helped by two horrendously bad calls against SF on their game winning drive. One was for 15 yards on an unsportsmanlike call for leading with the head, which was clearly not the head, but the shoulder. Even the announcers and resident official on the telecast said it was a wrong call. The next play was flagged for defensive holding on the DB on an incomplete pass to the WR. The announcers followed that call with “I don’t see much there.” At some point, penalties need to be reviewable, even if it is quickly in the truck somewhere, because those calls cost the 49ers the game.

I thought Gould retired. Not really the same situation as the Bears.

I think he and the 49ers had “issues”. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone picked Robbie up before the year was out…..but you may be right, I may be completely wrong.

He’s almost 41 yrs old. Great career. No shame in hanging it up now. Go enjoy life outside of football.

Bad calls and bad no calls went against the Browns as well. Including the one interception where the niners DB pushed the Browns WR down and intercepted the ball. The broadcast team was all in for the niners as well. Niners deserved to lose after starting a fight before the game.

I agree on the unsportsmanlike call but the 49ers got the exact same call on the final drive for PI. Oddly, the announcer said that one was OK. In both cases, as the WR came out of his break, the defender grabbed the shoulder pads a little.

Refs were really bad both ways. There were several holding calls on the OL that get uncalled all the time. Overall, the refs threw 25 flags for a total of 224 yards in penalties.

Agree, bad calls go both ways, but those two were egregious. It’s rare that you hear the broadcast referees criticize the calls, but even he disagreed with what was called. It was some home cooking for the Browns.

Actually, I think the niners DB tried to grab the jersey but missed and his hand slid across the back without actually grabbing the jersey.

Living on the lakefront, we get these weather events I call "blowers". We'll get two or three days with 25+ MPH winds coming from the north. Saturday, during the PSU game, we were getting consistent 35 mph winds. The screen on my second floor sliding door got lifted off its tracks and thrown onto the lawn furniture and I had an old, dead, tree branch fall that was 4" in diameter. Leaves everywhere.

Anyway, the wind yesterday was a consistent 20 mph off the lake. They didn't talk about it a lot. But I am sure that is why he missed that FG. He was kicking over the dog pound, on the east end of the endzone. The wind is left to right. That ball was going to be "in" by a yard but the wind pushed it. The ball had perfect rotation so it had to be the wind. The best kicker the browns have had is Phil Dawson. They bring him in to consult with the kickers and I know that they did with the current one too.

His route was impeded either way.

These players are taught to hold and handfight. They know what is and isn't called. A little tug here and there goes a long way. These refs were just out of their minds with calling penalties. That has to be some of the most yards ever racked up in a modern game.
