Jalewis Solomon has decommitted from Auburn. Auburn fans were elated that they stole him from us as they viewed it. Don’t know if that means we’re back in it or not.
Is he a receiver? Because we several next year. Not just recruits but proven portal guys like Wells. I don’t care where they come from if they can play.
If we get him, there will have to have been a money infusion. Beamer this week has joined Stoops in begging for money. All the NIL laggers are starting to beg for money.Boom!! Beamer cookin!!
If true, all that matters is that we got it done...so that's a good thing. If we get him, there will have to have been a money infusion. Beamer this week has joined Stoops in begging for money. All the NIL laggers are starting to beg for money.
He actually plays WR as well as CB. But I believe he is being recruited as a CB.Is he a receiver? Because we several next year. Not just recruits but proven portal guys like Wells. I don’t care where they come from if they can play.
Well, we all know they started out playing a sloppy, stupid, undisciplined game and their quarterback couldn't hit a wall and it snowballed on him. But the motive behind his NIL remarks doesn't matter. Everyone who is coming up short and plays at the highest level is starting to squeal. We certainly qualify, as do they.If true, all that matters is that we got it done...so that's a good thing.
But to be fair to Beamer, he was asked about the subject and commented....rather eloquently I thought. Stoops brought it up as an excuse for getting beat by 40.
If NIL money was all that was needed to win championships, Texas and Texas A&M would have been champions the last couple of years.Well, we all know they started out playing a sloppy, stupid, undisciplined game and their quarterback couldn't hit a wall and it snowballed on him. Who said it's all that's needed? But you won't win it without it. Not anymore. Look at who HAS won it the last two years. If NIL money was all that was needed to win championships, Texas and Texas A&M would have been champions the last couple of years.
Every coach in America is walking around with a hand out one way or another. Smart was telling a group prior to the year that what they're raising isn't enough, and they need more.Well, we all know they started out playing a sloppy, stupid, undisciplined game and their quarterback couldn't hit a wall and it snowballed on him. Because they compete with the very top echelon, two more of which are coming into the league. One of them is a behemoth and the other one is a titan.Every coach in America is walking around with a hand out one way or another. Smart was telling a group prior to the year that what they're raising isn't enough, and they need more.
Don't hate the playah, hate the game.If we get him, there will have to have been a money infusion. Beamer this week has joined Stoops in begging for money. All the NIL laggers are starting to beg for money.
Georgia actually doesn't throw tons of NIL money at recruits according to articles I have read. Article said Kirby waits until the player has shown he is good before opening the NIL checkbook. He said throwing big money at recruits before they have done anything in college can cause problems with the players already on the team.Who said it's all that's needed? But you won't win it without it. Not anymore. Look at who HAS won it the last two years.
Some in Rome have bigger horses and deeper pockets because they have fans with oil revenue. We will never match the Romans in Texas and Ok.Don't hate the playah, hate the game.
When in Rome...
Etc.
While true, you can only play 11 and there's only 1 ball. Programs like us will have to be creative. Some in Rome have bigger horses and deeper pockets because they have fans with oil revenue. We will never match the Romans in Texas and Ok.
They are where they are because of the totality of what they are doing. All you're saying in that they are being selective with the warchest they have. You can bet your house that somebody heavy has to jump up and down on the lid to get it closed.Georgia actually doesn't throw tons of NIL money at recruits according to articles I have read. Maybe fans will say "enough" and stop giving any more for NIL or will cut back giving somewhere else. The programs want money for facilities and salaries, the schools want money for endowments and now the collectives are wanting money to hand out to players. I have to believe there is a bottom to the well.
ATHENScock3 with the Rome comment....very nice. Some in Rome have bigger horses and deeper pockets because they have fans with oil revenue. We will never match the Romans in Texas and Ok.
You are spot on about the totality thing. In the past, Clemson and Auburn cheated their way to having loaded rosters and everyone else pretty well abided by the rules and were at a disadvantage to the cheaters. Now, NIL has taken away Clemson and Auburn's advantage and they are coming back to earth quickly. The programs on top now are the programs where the coach pays attention to every detail and leaves nothing to chance. Saban started that at Bama and Kirby apparently learned it from him and has taken it to Georgia. To be a truly top program, every detail has to be taken care of. NIL is one facet of what makes a championship program but it isn't the silver bullet that will solve every problem. They are where they are because of the totality of what they are doing. In a macro sense I'd say it has to some degree.I remember some our fans gleefully exclaiming with the advent of NIL that it would level the playing field for us.
I think you are correct beginning to end. It's all the ingredients, only now, NIL has become one of the essential ones. You are spot on about the totality thing. In a theoretical sense, that is probably correct. But the levelness depends on rather equal competitive resources across schools. I think we all know the truth about that aspect. In a macro sense I'd say it has to some degree.

I agree. Do we land Harbor without it? Does Juice come back this year without it? Does Ratt come back this year without it? Looks like we're about to flip Soloman...does that happen without it? Nope. We ended up with the 16th ranked class last year. Currently sitting at 19, with about 10 spots left (most teams ahead of us are already almost full). There's a lot of momentum currently and I'm confident we'll end up ahead of last year. So I'd say it's been helpful. The more parity there is in the sport the better for programs like us.In a macro sense I'd say it has to some degree.

Muschamp had 1 ranked 16 in 5 years, and it was headlined by Jamyest Williams and Ortre Smith. HBC had a few in that range as a HOF coach. Unless we're going to talk Urban into taking on a challenge, we can't rely on that draw. Beamer is outperforming Mr. Ice to Eskimos at this point on the trail. Is it NIL, is it just Beamer, is it a mix? Who knows. But we're recruiting at a higher level now than were the previous 5 years before Beamer got here. But many of our recruiting classes have typically been in this range prior to NIL.

I’m using on3, which had last year at 16. This year is 19 with 10 or so spots to fill. Beamer is out there recruiting on ZERO credentials. No idea how much is NIL, but there were a lot of people saying it was going to crush us as well and that’s clearly not the case so far. From 2005-2020, our recruiting classes were ranked: 23, 24, 6, 22, 12, 24, 18, 19, 16, 16, 19, 26, 16, 18, 19, 18.
2007 was an extreme outlier at #6 and 2009 was a bit of outlier at #12. Going back to 2005, at least, we've always been ranked somewhere in the mid-to-low teens to the mid-20s. So far Beamer's classes have been 26 and currently 19 (not counting 2021 for obvious reasons). That's exactly where we usually have been.
I just don't see how you can make an argument for NIL impacting our recruiting so far. Granted, it's a small sample size. Maybe in 10 years we'll see more of an effect, but I see no logic for saying our 19th-ranked class is the result of NIL, when we've always been right around there.

A visit is never a bad thing but I think a lot of kids take lots of visits for the trips and the attention.Solomon is scheduled to be at the game tomorrow.
We have to hope he likes what he sees from all perspectives.A visit is never a bad thing but I think a lot of kids take lots of visits for the trips and the attention.
Soloman and Staley will both be there....2 HUGE flip targets. We have to hope he likes what he sees from all perspectives.
