Some history on NEPA and Old Forge Style Pizza

I researched Old Forge Pizza and was surprised at what I found.

Long before Salerno's, Revello's, Arcaro & Genell, and many others made Old Forge the "Pizza Capital of the World", dozens of other places advertised pizza in the area as early as 1932!

And a place in Hazleton owns the title of being the first to advertise pizza in the entire state of PA.

Alfredo's used to be near the Notch in Chinchilla where Armetta's now resides.

Everyone knows Alfredo’s Pizza Cafe is the real deal. (It really is one of my favorites)

Vince’s is the bomb. Best pepperoni pizza around by far. Their Buffalo chicken pizza is also really good

I worked with Jim Pilosi and knew his
mom and dad who worked at the former Pilosi restaurant (now Revellos). Jim still does catering locally. Also sad to see the pic of pizza from Cosmo’s on Oak. It was the closest to Ghigarelli’s but Cosmo had heart surgery last year and closed up the pizza joint. He still has a cheese steak place on Moosic St in Scranton. A good newer place to check out in Old Forge is Calogero’s on Main St. Pretty close to Ghigarelli’s, which was our favorite.

Mary Lou’s in Old Forge is also decent. She used to make pizza for Gabello’s Cafe in Duryea. This guy does a great job with local pizza reviews
