why State is not ranked, and received no votes in the latest AP poll, after knocking off #5 Tennessee and (then) #8 Auburn.

We lost to Southern University. Not Southern Miss, we lost to the SWAC school. They are horrible.

NET is all that matters. We are 37th there with a chance to move up tonight and Saturday. Then we have a stretch of 5 games where we should be heavily favored.

Lunardi has us as an 8 seed right now. That's comfortably in. If we can find a way to 5-2 in our next 7 (very likely), we will be on the 5-6 seed line and an NCAAT lock. That would give us a chance to win some big games down the stretch (Kentucky, Auburn, South Carolina) and play ourselves into a 4 seed.

6 losses & 3-4 conference record. Only ranked team with 6 losses is Alabama & they’re 6-1 in SEC including a road win at Mississippi State. And they’re only 24th.

1) That poll really doesnt matter. Go look up RPI and Net rankings. They mean more
2) too many losses, and one of the worst losses in the country
3) we are the only team in the top 64 without a true road win

For a team thats 0-3 in the SEC on the road and 0-4 in TRUE road games. 4 road games in the next 7. I dont think I'd call 5-2 very likely. I'd say 5-2 is actually the best case scenario. 4 wins in the next 7 is par, anything less than 4 and we are squarely on the bubble again.


Again this team needs to get 9 SEC regular season wins to feel good about their position in the tournament. It looks like 3 of the next 7 are quad 1 games... need to keep compiling wins.

a 4-3 stretch isnt a bad thing. Its par. And keeps us where we are. And it guarentees we get a win on the road. To me thats a very successful 7 game stretch. And keeps our position in the tournament.

We are not ranked because we play our a$$es off at home against top ten teams and then turn around and **** the bed against an unranked team. It's called consistent effort. This team is pretty good when they wanna be and hopefully they will improve as the season goes on. If so maybe they can win a couple games in the tournament. I mean they have proven they can play with just about anybody. I guess I should have said it's called lacking consistent effort ??
