Something you won't see in MLB today.

You got that right. After 100 pitches they start thinking their arms going to fall off. That's at every level of professional baseball.

I'll say! There's no way that an 85 year old and a dead 101 year old go more than 5 innings nowadays.

Yeah whenever people talk about the records which will never be broken, you almost never hear about the one which will TRULY never be broken and that is Cy Young's 511 career victories.

Mary Sue Styles. Gave me more wood than Dick Allen’s 40 ounce bat.

My dad would purposely buy seats just up the third base line at the Vet. He never said it directly but I knew he was hot on Mary Sue, may God rest his soul. She had it all.

1969, I'm stationed at Ft. Holabird in the Baltimore area. i ask my buddies, who wants to go with ne to watch the Birds play. They all said no, so i drove to the game alone. That night Jim Palmer pitched a no-hitter against the O's. I still have the ticket stub, and the memory.

Back in the 70s the leaders would have 30 complete games. Nowadays they have 2.

It wasn’t just because of Gibson. The MLB batting stats were ridiculously low that year, .237 average across both leagues.

Seen Dick Allen put on over that light tower vs. the Astros circa 64.

Alex Johnson saved my life at the left-field fence, '63, '64, thereabouts.

I caught a foul ball off the bat of Bruce Kison in game 4 of the 71' Series, the 1st night game in World Series history. Despite the O's 4 twenty game winners, the Bucs won the Series largely due to the efforts of Series MVP Roberto Clemente.

I had to dodge a foul ball hit by Boog Powell Orioles vs. KC Athletics. When it hit the seats sounded like a building collapsing .

In 1972, Steve Carlton pitched 346.1 innings, completed 30 games, and won 27 games on a team whose total wins equaled 59. I have never seen a better season by a pitcher since 1972.

Steve Carlton's 1972 season was one of the best since the Deadball Era - Cooperstown Expert

Steve Carlton earned the NL's pitching Triple Crown in 1972. He won 27 games and posted a 1.97 ERA with 310 strikeouts.

Yeah that one too

same with complete games by pitchers. if anyone today gets double figures it's a red letter season.

Isn't that what the league average was in MLB last year? If not, darn close.
