“The hard core, the outlaw elite, were the Hell’s Angels… wearing the winged death’s-head on the back of their sleeveless jackets and packing their ‘mamas’ behind them on big ‘chopped hogs.’ They rode with a fine unwashed arrogance, secure in their reputation as the rottenest motorcycle gang in the whole history of Christendom.”
–Hunter S. Thompson – Hell’s Angels 1966

He is an interesting guy in the fact that he became more interested in fame. When you are part of that type of organization it is better to be low profile than needing to be the face. Tony Soprano understood that concept. That is why he made Junior the boss after Jackie Aprile even though he was the real boss.

wherever he went, he was surrounded by Angels who were ready to get it on if you even looked at him wrong- not the guy to screw with

If you have a couple hours to burn, his rap sheet summary in Wikipedia makes for interesting reading.

He was a complete POS…just read anything about Altamont and he comes off like scum.
Good riddance Sonny, and it’s hot down there, ain’t it?

I had a Hells Angel reporting to me about 15 years ago or so. My team was given a very large RFQ for a strategic piece of business that if we won would move us into a whole new category of suppliers therefore had much visibility. My HA guy was an important member of team and critical in the quoting process yet he told me he had scheduled two weeks off and couldn't help. This group was very new to me and I quickly learned they didn't have backup so I asked him (still not understanding) to postpone his trip and I'd have the company pay for his entire "vacation" a few weeks later. He told me it was a rally and he had to go. I didn't quite understand so I emphasized the importance of the RFQ and reiterated the compensation that would be coming his way if he postponed his "vacation" a few weeks. He came to my office and apologized but said he "HAS TO GO" and that he "COULDN"T CANCEL". Turns out it was a Hells Angel rally for their leadership and he "had" to go.

he was loyal to one person- himself. Look up George Christie for one example
