Chicken curse.

Not only do we spectacularly crap the bed as the higher seeded team in the opening round of the tournament. A former Gamecock absolutely goes off and explodes for a CAREER HIGH 40 freaking points.

You can’t make it up. Blast me, I don’t care.

Badly Done Paris, Badly Done indeed…. All that hard work during the season summed up in a flat performance when it counted. We can at least take credit for baby steps I Suppose.

Just our luck for sure.

I actually predicted all but Cusinard getting a career game. I even told my daughter as much moments after selection. Wish he would have stuck it out with the good guys(us) instead of transferring. Good game Oregon.

Nonetheless the guys were not expected to be dancing and exceeded expectations for start. WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR

Lamont is building the program. We need better 3 point shooters and we need more physical players. This team did the best they could with the players we have. The two really physical teams we played dominated us. That should tell us something. Our erratic 3 point shooting has got to improve and we need to be better at the line. Still very proud of this team.

That they won as many games as they did against good teams is amazing. Imagine what can happen with some real skill and depth. It will all be about LP being to recruit talent that can play his style.

Get bigger inside, LP knows what needs to happen IMO.

The chicken curse will never die. The curse and cockroaches will remain after all-out nuclear war.

I don’t think we folded. I think the latter half of the season we were the hunted and our game plan had been figured out. Our lack of talent ended up showing once that happened.
I think this is true. I don't want to bash our guys because they really did exceed expectations this year and had an amazing season, but to advance from here, we have to get some players who know how to finish underneath the basket. Whether that means getting a 6'10" guy with long arms or getting a 6'5" guy (like Thornwell) who knows how to go up to the basket, we're gonna have to have a finisher or two to be a threat in any post-season.

Not putting this one on the chicken curse. Early in the season it was discussed that the weak OOC might drag them down if they were on the bubble - it ended up dragging down their seed. That’s a win! They were a legit tourney team, not just a bubble team.

but I think I’ve figured out these 11 seeds winning more games than 6 seeds since 2010. All the 11 seeds are high major teams that just squeaked in the tourney. So you usually have a tournament-worthy, high-major team against the same. They’re all basically toss ups. And if one player on either team has a career day - game over.

I mean, come on, a former player going off for a career high 40 points? That’s gotta be the curse, right?
