Speaking of dumpster fires, A&M just lost to Auburn

Will finish this season 4-8 and, worse, 1-7 in conference play.

First 6 game losing streak since 1972.

Lost to a team that was a mess this season and already had to fire their coach.

From pre-season top 10 to dead last in the West and tied with Vandy for worst conference record.

It's still a long shot that Jimbo is fired, but I absolutely guarantee there are phone calls and texts going on right this very minute.

If I were Jimbo, I'd feel a little odd walking around campus at A&M knowing that the only reason I still have a job is because they don't want to pay my buyout...and knowing that every single person who looks at me knows the same thing.

Even with the buyout, I just don't see how they can justify retaining him.

I mean, they just got shut down by Auburn. 215 yards of offense. Only had 3 points with under 3 minutes to go in the 4th when they were down by 10 and managed a desperation TD.

Tied for worst record in the conference. There must be discussions going on right now. Somewhere someone is asking "Are you SURE we can't afford the buyout?"

He'll get 1 more season but I assure you if things start heading south again next season, they'll fire him mid season. He's a fraud. The reason I predict this is because if TAM fires him at seasons end - *THEY* will look silly for paying him so much in that ridiculous contract. If they wait till next season *THEY* have a 100% chance of not looking silly because > there's a 50/50 chance TAM can and will turn it around next season and all will be forgiven. On the other hand (50%) if things go south *THEY* can fire him mid season and somewhat "save face" by doing so. Whoever "They" are ---- I wouldn't want to be them right now. But waiting is the right move. JMHO.

Here’s the thing though. The question they have to be asking themselves at this point is “even if he does turn things around somewhat next season, what are the odds that he’s THE guy?”

They are paying that kind money to win a title, and he has not gotten them close. He’s actually move them further away. So if you conclude that he’s not the guy to take you there, and you’re on hook for paying him one way or the other, why not just go ahead and cut bait now and try to get someone else in who you think can get you there?

He will be back....and I pretty much guarantee that they will have a new OC before we will. He will go out and find an OC that can be more creative with his pro-style offense. He's got too much young talent and too big of a buyout not to be back.

This shocks me. Dude has had 4-straight, top-10 recruiting classes. There's so much talent on that team that even with no QB they should be able to "talent" their way to some wins. This has to be one of the worst coaching jobs in history.
The announcers were saying that they had almost twice as many freshmen starts this season than the next highest conference team. I thought the same as you, but evidently they transferred out or just didn't live up to their billing.

Saw this little nugget:

A&M's second-leading receiver claims he was benched for the Auburn game for wearing arm sleeves.

There may be more to the story, but I don't recall when I've seen a player go to Twitter to post why he was benched for a game.
