Spencer Rattler, MarShawn Lloyd defends South Carolina offensive line
After a opening win over Georgia State, two South Carolina players, including quarterback Spencer Rattler, had to defend the offensive line.
We could see a big turnaround this week, and we better, or this could get ugly real quick.![]()

I have always found it interesting that fans of every school use the "biggest improvement is from week 1 to week 2" line to bolster their hopes that their team will look better the next week. I wonder how many of them tend to ignore the idea that their next opponent will also improve from week 1 to week 2?I suppose the one silver lining is that we had a game we could win without good OL play to show us that our OL is not playing well before we head into SEC play. They always say the biggest improvement is from Week 1 to Week 2, so we'll see this week. Unfortunately, we're playing a significantly better opponent, so if there is improvement, it may be negated by the jump in competition level.
One of the few gripes I have with Beamer so far is his public analysis of the team. I guess I still expect Spurrier-level bluntness, but I know that's not his style.. It's ok when you're winning but sometimes I want to hear more than "It's on all of us, coaches and players. We've all got to do better."
I’m just saying I would rather find out that we have offensive line issues against Georgia State than to wait until we have SEC play to find out we have offensive line issues. Whether it can be fixed or not I don’t know, but I’m glad we had a game where we could win even with OL issues.I have always found it interesting that fans of every school use the "biggest improvement is from week 1 to week 2" line to bolster their hopes that their team will look better the next week. I didn't see all of the Arkansas game but their OL looked a good bit better than ours did and I guess they will get better this week too.
We can hope it's some kind of wake up call....I’m just saying I would rather find out that we have offensive line issues against Georgia State than to wait until we have SEC play to find out we have offensive line issues. If we are not balanced against Arkansas with the run game and passing it’s gonna be a long night. Hopefully Christian can play and the O line can provide some holes. Hoping we can step it up. Can’t count on special teams for 3 touchdowns.![]()

I guess I can see what you are saying but having OL issues against Georgia State makes me think we are going to have much more serious OL issues against legit SEC opponents. Seeing clemson's DL play against GT didn't exactly make me feel good about facing them.I’m just saying I would rather find out that we have offensive line issues against Georgia State than to wait until we have SEC play to find out we have offensive line issues.
