Spring ball starts tomorrow...how bout that RB position?

Guess it's gonna be between JuJu and Mario Anderson. JuJu has some experience, but he's just not big enough to be an every down back. Physically, Anderson looks the part. Looks like he could be an angry runner type.
After these guys, it's a bunch of folks I never heard of at RB. Do we have room to take another one from the portal? There are a few still left there.

In before someone suggests moving Doty to RB.......

Yeah, for spring, it looks like we're going to be thin. Braswell is incoming, and will certainly be heavily relied upon unless we get a solid contributor or six from the portal (I hope we have room - but we also kinda need edges too, so....). Our RB room is gonna have to stay healthy this upcoming season, for sure!

Ah, the comment on Doty also reminded me of Joyner. I saw a Twitter post last week saying that he has to get a look at RB as well. I'd say if we look at either option for RB, then we've hit the desperation point.

Portal opens back up in May. Wouldn't be surprised if we pick up a RB's and several DE's.

After reading the thread, we might be there. Once true freshmen who aren't on campus yet start being talked about, I get worried.

Mario Anderson will be a surprise who carries the load well at RB.

I'm hopeful he's a hidden gem. He looks the part, that's for sure. There's just no telling how it translates when you get on the field against SEC speed. It would be great if he can at least be serviceable as RB1, let JuJu be a change of pace back and then work in Braswell to get some reps to take over next year.

This. Juju needs to be a change of pace, imo, not the featured back. But if I'm honest, I'm putting the ball in his hands first out of this group.

On paper, none of our options are great.
1. A RB who is too small for the position at this level
2. A Division II transfer
2. A true freshman
This. It's a bad situation. Hopefully there's some portal action that happens in May. Otherwise, we're left hoping that Anderson was a diamond in the rough and/or Braswell is SEC ready as a true freshman. Not impossible, but would certainly be the exception not the rule.

Having said that, we had the probably the most impressive offensive showing I've seen in my life without our top 2 RBs this year. And we beat Clem with a gimpy Lloyd, so who knows.

Predictably, Joyner was working with RBs today. It’s spring ball, so i don’t fault them for tinkering with it, but he is not a RB.

So were you worried about Marcus or Derek Watson or Mike Davis or numerous other freshman coming in? A great freshman RB can be a difference maker and it happens all the time. Not sure we will have one, but Braswell may be a playa.

I get worried when any true freshman, who isn't even on campus yet, is being talked about as a major contributor.

Ina side note, is this kid rated as high as Lattimore, Davis or Watson were? Not that it would change much. He still hasn't played a down yet.

Not the worst idea, given our situation.

I think it's fine to experiment with in spring ball, but if Joyner ends up taking significant reps at RB, then things will not have gone well at that position. I seriously doubt they are looking at him being RB1, so I'm not all that worried about it.
