At first I read your post wrong and thought beaver stadium and wondered what idiot would plan an ourdoor concert in central PA in March. BJC makes more sense and I may try to get there...

Come on man I'll never understand the allure of these 70's - 80's bands? Odd too as I can't imagine the students are into them. To each his own but if you ever saw them in their heyday... you'd never pay what they ask for nowadays. Heck I saw E-Street in Jersey bars in the seventies. "Born to Run" is the first song I think of when I think of my freshman year, 1975.

My 17 year old can't wait to see him. The reason the 70s and 80s artists are still hanging around, other than their music is flat out awesome, is there is absolutely no one younger good enough to push them out.

I’m 40 and the boss is on my bucket list. I will not miss this chance. If you like classic rock from the 70s and 80s then you MUST go see artists like Bruce before it’s too late.

In 12 years from now when I’m telling my teenage son that I saw all these amazing classic rockers LIVE, it won’t matter to him or I that I saw them all after 2000.

He's coming to my city too, can't wait. I've never seen him live before and I've heard he's fantastic.

Hey, stay home. Nobody cares. If Tgar is in town he will be going. He has seen the boss a couple of dozen times extending all the way back to the Wollman Rink concerts in Central Park in the early 70s. Bruce always delivers 3 plus hours of killer R and R and this time will be no different.

Tonight Tgar is headed to Burgettstown ( Star Lake ) for another round of Dead and Company and a month ago it was Baltimore for Sir Paul. In between it was Portland Oregon for a couple of blistering jazz concerts.

There is Nothing like being at a great performance.

Well, not really a fan of Springsteen (people in high school made me dislike him, 1985 Born in the USA Tour people were out their minds), however I may have to just go to the show. I do like some of his music but some is just overplayed. I do regret not seeing Toots and the Maytals when they were at the State Theatre several years ago and now Toots is dead and I will never have a chance. For this reason, I may have to plunk down the huge amount they will want for tickets and go to the show. I am a fan of almost all music and will mostly get tuned up and enjoy it.

My 29 year old daughter just saw Paul McCartney and said it was the best concert she's ever seen. Paul was on stage for 2-1/2 hours.

My 19 year old son's favorite band is Pink Floyd. We saw Roger Waters a few years back and he was phenomenal.

Seeing Waters again at Wells Fargo in August. 2 years in the waiting and had seen him there a few years ago and got to see David Gilmour on his last tour at Radio City. Phenomenal shows.

Waters did his pre-tour rehearsals at the BJC. One of our students also works there and he put on a free concert for BJC employeees, and others before he left.

Well, thanks for your opinion, but would you rather see today’s bands, whoever they are and whatever they’re screaming?

I was at this show because a friend of mine worked the rehearsals and took me. It was awesome. We got to see Roger Waters with about 800-1000 other people. Nothing could compare. The BJC actually had a concession stand open for beer. Great time! They flew the pig during intermission.

I see as many bands as I can. Then, before, now and next. Music is music if it can reach your soul. Don’t discount any of it.
Tgar, I just can’t appreciate some of today’s music. I completely understand what you are saying, but …
However, my iPhone does have two Taylor Swift albums (earlier ones). I sometimes play them when I’m biking. Kind of like the old question, “But can you dance to that?”
If there is one type of today’s music I enjoy, it’s some of the better country music. Being a child of the late ‘60s and ‘70, I can scarcely believe I typed that. Maybe if I understood what today’s singers are singing, I might change my mind. And I do wear hearing aids.
I could tell you a lot of good stories that revolve around music from my memorable days at PSU 1970-73, when music was indeed soulful.

I've been singing and playing instruments since I was 5 years old.

To paraphrase Gunny Highway....I've played more notes, sung more words and strummed more chords than all you numbnuts put together. (That’s probably not true, I'm sure there are some very talented musicians here :))

From playing all that music I've learned two things:
There is really nothing new under the sun.
The only measure of whether a song is good is whether you like it.

These "my music is better than your music" arguments are silly.

I was trying to write a song called "It's all Been Done Before" back in the day and then the Barenaked Ladies released a single called "It's all Been Done".

Have you successfully written anything you're happy with?

While I've written a few trop rock ditties about fishing, drinking and living at the beach, I've found it difficult to write anything resembling a serious song despite putting pen to paper and fingers to keyboard numerous times. In my head it sounds lush and profound.....on tape it sounds thin and insipid :( . But then I am a harsh critic of myself musically....

I wrote songs in high school that I was happy with but when you hear them now, nobody is happy. I can make up sections of songs, but can't put together full songs with different parts.

I'm so awful at lyrics, it's always a list; I have nothing important to say. Every riff I write slowly morphs into the Immigrant Song. At least I know I'm not creative enough so I don't have bad regrets. I can't sing while playing, so while I'm a pretty good guitar player, I can't entertain anyone except myself.

We should collaborate. I'm a mediocre guitarist that primarily strums chords to accompany my not too shabby singing. People other than my mother have actually told me they enjoy listening to me at my every other week gig at the local beach joint.

Don't be too hard on yourself....singing while playing is orders of magnitude harder than rubbing your stomach and patting your head. I once saw a guy at Captain Tony's in Key West playing, singing and playing bass foot pedals at the same time and I thought....how in the actual hell. I don't care what anyone says, that's freakin talent.

As for writing, the lyrics part comes easier to me, but the music always devolves into the standard I-IV-V I've heard this a million times before catalog....

Just think, Bernie Taupin and Elton John could have connected years earlier had On3 been in existence…

crap, no tix for me for Philadelphia. I was in the virtual line until 11:06, and then it said it's your time to purchase tickets, we'll transfer you to the web site. And when I was transferred to the web site, it said "Your session has expired. Please log back in."

I logged back in, and all that was left were premium seats at crazy prices. (The cheapest for 4 tix, all on the same row, was $10,816.)

My son got 4 tix to the Baltimore concert. He's still in the virtual line for Philadelphia, so I suspect he'll face the same thing I did for Philadelphia tix.

Anybody have better luck for Philadelphia tix?

I got some at face value in Austin, can't wait. I had read about the dynamic pricing issues from the shows that went on sale a couple days earlier so when I had my chance I didn't waste any time and just grabbed tickets as fast as possible knowing that the prices would increase as more people logged in.
