Meanwhile, the biggest game in state has LaSalle up 10-0 over Pittsburgh Central Catholic.
LaSalle is loaded. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them dethrone SJP in the PCL this year.
That will be the de facto state championship game, not the first time we've said that. I miss the good old days watching those great CB-West teams.
Prep gives up 31 unanswered points in the second half and loses 31-28.
I happened upon a bit of the game in the 1st half. Heard him mentioned at least twice, making good, disruptive plays in the backfield.

I don’t disagree. I’m not a fan of their classless coach either. On the flip side, it’s nice to finally get a few recruits from there. They have D1 talent all over the field.
SJP started gassing hard about midway through the third quarter. Kids were going down cramping right and left. Penalties were an issue for both teams. Sloppy from that perspective. Skillwise, SJP was just as talented, maybe more so, than Heritage. I was surprised Heritage was ranked so high. The QB looked good, but I wasn’t blown away by him. Of course, the ESPN announcers couldn’t stop talking about him and his Texas commitment.

Had an alum tell me they don’t recruit. I said…”sure, whatever you want to believe”
He couldn’t have possibly said that with a straight face. Kids from other states aren’t going to North Philly just for the ambiance.
He was completely serious and active at the school.
I told him I’m sure they also give money only based on need…as in they need a QB, the need a LB, they need a RB etc.

Since we're on the topic of PA high school football, does anyone know where the papreps rivals board went? Been posting there for 27 years. I thought they were joining On3, but don't see it anywhere.
I can’t speak specifically for that school, but the recruiting by private just gets worse every year. Frankly, I’d put football behind basketball and baseball when it comes to recruiting by the privates, but it’s still crazy. Week one of the youth football started yesterday here in Central Maryland And my son does not play, but I took him to a game to watch some of his friends on the 8U team. On the field next to them was the 12 U game, lined up in the top row of the bleachers next to the press box were at least four different local private school coaches. Gonzaga, Dematha, Good Counsel and Georgetown Prep.
They were just enjoying a nice youth football game. Nothing more.
Wow. I don't believe Neshaminy was ranked but Emmaus was. Nice "W" for CJF's former high school Redskins (if they're still called by that name).

Lacrosse is up there also. The private school coaches start recruiting the summer club lacrosse tournaments around sixth or seventh grade.
They are still the Redskins or commonly referred to as the ‘skins. They have a really nice new stadium.
It’s still in school property if that’s what you mean. They renovated all their fields a few years ago. They have a nice, smaller field for lacrosse between the school and the stadium.
St Joe Prep lost 45-17 to DeMatha. LaSalle beat Malvern Prep 42-35.
