Stansbury still hard after Keith Gallon

From a scout.com article about the LeBron James Skills Camp:

<font color="#000066">Mississippi State</font> head coach <font color="#000066">Rick Stansbury</font> has trailed <font color="#000066">Keith Gallon</font> every step of the way.

Gallon is 1 position from being in the Rivals top 25 in the country and a 5* player. He's ranked 35 on scout.com. He's a 4* on both sites. Everything I've read and seen about this guy says that he's a BIG time player. Offers from MSU, Arizona, Georgetown, LSU, Tennessee, A&M, and USC and both sites have us as the leader by quite a margin. I emailed Dave Telep at scout.com and asked him about Gallon. He said that from what he has heard, he would be shocked if Gallon went elsewhere besides MSU.

Here's a couple of youtube videos of Gallon:

9 times out of 10, if Stansbury targets his "man", it's usually over with. Plus Mama Gallon loves MSU and Keith's sister is on the women's basketball team. Hey, it's July 8. I've got to talk about something on here.

didn't get on campus due to the association calling. Same with Bender. Kinda like losing baseball players to the draft. You want coaches to go after those players. I think this will help Stans in the new era of one and done.

and it WOULD be a huge get but I don't count them until they enroll. We have burned by the NBA and other colleges.

And isn't the rule changing to two and done?

I hope Stans can get this guy (and get him on a conditioning program), but I find it interesting that he himself says LSU is his number one school. Granted, I think that was several months ago (pre-coaching change)...

So you are saying that Hopson is the only recruit Stans lost out on..

Stans is a great recruiter, but he does lose one every now and then...

I'm guessing he misspoke, and isn't A) a complete dumbass or B) leaning toward LSU.

He's leaning heavy towards State now. We just need to stay on him and sign him during the November signing period.

Also, watching the videos of him, the first thing I see is great hands. Catching, finishing, passing. Also quick feet for a big man. He would be a big-time addition.

but nobody gets all the players they are after. I know that we wanted Mo Williams but lost him to Bama. I'm pretty sure we went after Justin Reed. Coach Stansbury said that Coach Williams did not want to offer more than one unqualified player the year that David Sanders came out at Provine. We had already taken a verbal from someone else and Sanders signed with UM and placed in JC. That gave them the in with Harper and then Reed...that and Wayne Brent. However both of those players were early in his tenure. Regarding in-state players I can't think of anyone lately that he lost to another college. Regarding recent out of state players I know that we wanted Shan Foster from New Orleans but he chose Vandy and Ladarious Dunn from Shreveport went to Baylor.
