meh…how many lineman pan out? If he does he will be portal material one day. It’s full free agency

I agree. Spend the money on a junior or senior in the portal. Return on investment from a freshman lineman probably isn’t very good for any program these days.

Well if Lebby can't get it together maybe Selmon can try again. After baseball hire maybe he learned something

Sadly we would not be able to hire an o Connor in football

We have some built in advantages for baseball but we are at a disadvantage at football unless we just came up with 50 million in NIL

Mike leach was the closest to an o Connor type hire that we could make.

I’m literally stomped with the potential football hires outside of bringing in Jon sumrall but he’s just waiting on stoops to get fired at Kentucky .

You are t wrong but surely we could hire a Sumerall or someone who had some experience like leach. I just never understood hiring so much inexperience at football after we just fired a guy for being inexperienced and it being a dumpster. Go offer a decent p5 head coach 6-7 mil or even a G5 3-4 mil. Maybe Lebby will surprise me. I like the guy just still green and figuring too much out. If more from OU followed him I would have been more at ease but really didn't. And he went all in on more inexperience last year and then kept a lot of the staff he probably should have replaced.
But back to Selmon and football. Hope it works out but he earned himself a mulligan with the baseball hire for football

I don't get too fired up about high school guys. It's the portal that really matters. Those high school guys may never see the field with your team once they are here. Transfer portal is way more important. I am still under the opinion there is no building a team with the portal with two open dates. You are putting roster together. A lot of those high school guys are going to get a paycheck and then move on for a bigger paycheck. As far as high school goes it is still early, and I predict we will finish top 30.

Portal has ruined college football m. I really don't care what freshmen we sign anymore. Honestly they won't be here passed a year. Even a transfer. No commitment. No rules or contracts anymore.
Y'all understand that most schools don't have the kind of turnover that we've seen since Leach's death? HS signee development with portal help is the way schools build winning programs. Even Kiffin and Deion understand that.

That's like, baseline stuff. We all know that.

What we need is an actual plan to have success doing it. Because just going out and blindly finding and paying 'the best we can get' is not working for us.

I agree, but we haven’t shown we are willing to spend big bucks in football until recently with the announcement of the indoor facility for football only.

I still think Lebby isn’t an awful coach, I think he was given the reigns to a bottom 2 roster in the sec and one of the worst in the power 4.

Not firing the DC last year may cost him his job.
But any sec team that gets blown out by a MAC team is in a really bad spot….. last year there were flashes of potential

Georgia , A&M , ole miss , but just did not have the guys to go win those games and also think coaching cost them in the A&M game.

I don’t think lebby has to make a bowl game to stay but he can’t go 0-8 in the sec again. He has to win atleast 2 because I don’t think they beat Arizona State this year .

Tennessee , Ole Miss, and Arkansas are the best options because of what they lost. Tennessee lost their qb , star running back, star edge rusher and many more and it’s at home.

I think that Tennessee game will set the tone for the season IMO , Arizona state too but I think ASU is better than Tennessee

Expected. We all knew some bad news had to happen in an attempt to cancel out the hiring last night. What, did you think the cosmos was going to let us go off and celebrate with pure joy and unadulterated happiness? Hahaha, yeah right.

I got news for you, cosmos - this one didn't work! I'm still happy today, so you can take your high school OL prospect

But recruiting is going well and our NIL is in great shape **
Yep, and the ones that keep showing up to tout our 17th ranked portal class are typically the same ones saying that anyone expecting more than 3-4 wins this year is crazy.

I'm not one that thinks that Lebby should be gone if we don't make a bowl game, but man he's got to show something this Fall. Basically since the day he landed in Starkville, there has just been nothing going on with this program to get excited about.

Lot of people are gonna be disappointed when they realize our portal class isn’t that great.

This is the Science. To keep the universe in balance if anything good ever happens at State there has to be something negative happen with it to keep things in equilibrium.
I coined the Sixpack phrase "conference retard karma" although it hasn't been used in some time. The phrase was meant to be descriptive of a natural state of equilibrium that must exist between the two primary conference retards, state and ole miss, whereby anything positive or negative that happened to one required a corresponding and opposite positive or negative to be required of the other.

What I did not calculate and could not have predicted was that this natural state of karma/equilibrium could be employed for intra-retard sports programs at one university. Leave it to state to create this scenario.
