I hope the team can keep their heads about them and just take care of business on Saturday. They are a bad team and winless in conference, but we just barely managed to eke by them @ Missouri 2 weeks ago. That has been their most competitive conference game so far. I don't need to rehash our sports history for anyone here, but, yeah, just don't want to see us totally waste the UK win by blowing what should be an easy win. A win sets us up at 5-2, going to UT for another enormous conference game and the start of a fairly challenging stretch with @ UT, @ UGA and vs Ole Miss. A loss to Mizzou could start a slide. A win puts us in great position at 5-2 in conference play with 11 games to go.

Lamont seems like a cool customer, so I have no doubt he'll keep our guys grounded with all the hype and buzz we are now getting after our convincing win over UK. I was watching one of the games last night and they talked about us halftime, declaring that we are for real and a legit team. I think Lamont will keep the guys focused and hungry, though.

Being at home and the importance of moving to 5-2 going into the rough stretch gives me confidence Paris will have them focused.
It's kind of wild. Dennis Gates was a hire that many thought was a hire we should have made. Mizzou is dead last in the league at 0-6. On paper, this is a home game that shouldn't be that difficult. I think LP will have them ready.

Yep. On paper. We REALLY struggled with them at Mizzou, though. Hopefully we've found our groove. CLA will be hopping after Tuesday, no doubt.

Sorry, I've been a Gamecock fan far too long to take an easy win for granted on the heels of a big win.

Right there with you my friend; Right there with you!!

It would be so much the Gamecock thing to do to lose to Missouri. Akin to beating #1 Alabama, and then laying an egg against Ky the following week. The Mizzou game will tell us a lot more about CLP and this bball team... I'm cautiously op......well, I'm cautious. 😁

Really hoping this is not like last baseball season. I took the bait and started caring about baseball again and then we pooped the bed.

I've been thinking this since the buzzer sounded Tuesday night. It was an awesome night and an incredible game. A huge win for the program.

But it's all for naught if you come out Saturday and lose to Missouri.

Upsetting Kentucky is great, but if you don't build on that win with more wins, it's just a cool moment. Football beating Georgia in 2019 comes to mind. Awesome game in an otherwise pitiful season that meant nothing. Same thing for beating UK last year in basketball. It was a great upset, but otherwise meant nothing in the big scheme of things.

These are usually those landmine games. Coming off a big win and then facing a team having a down year. we're still dealing with 18-20 year olds, that may have the "we just to show up and things will take care of themselves".
We've all seen it, and it's not just us.

I am sure the Bama game is fresh in their minds. Now, obviously, Bama on the road is monumentally different from Mizzou at home. But, we were getting some good press that week after winning at MSU, Lamont was coach of the week and we had good vibes all around and started to get some national recognition. Then we just cratered against Bama.

Why do you assume this is an easy win? With the exception of Auburn, Kentucky and Tennessee I rather play anybody but Missouri. Missouri searching for that first conference win is a dangerous team to play.

I am not assuming anything. "Take an easy win for granted" = "don't expect an easy win"

It’s so important to be above .500 in conference play to make it to the Dance. They better be ready, and I think they will be. Got the win as many home games as you can. I hope we don’t go cold from 3. The 11 3’s vs. UK was huge.
