Seeing a bunch of talk on twitter that he’s leaving. Interesting. The university put out a note yesterday that he would be coaching TEs. Guess he didn’t want to? Oh well. Seemed like a good guy, but I was expecting a little more based on all the hype around him.

I don't really agree with the last part. Before Stepp, what had Legette done at the position? If Wells had been healithy (or willing) then things could have been quite interesting.
1 WR in 3 years

Whose fault is that though?
This. We were told he was an ace recruiter. His two biggest successes were a guy he didn’t scout and a guy from the portal that was already rated as one of the best WRs in the portal.

Stepp should get some credit for X. But all we heard was how X worked harder than anybody in the offseason. He also spent a bunch of time with Deebo training in the summer.
In 3 years, he recruited Juice and developed X. Maybe Brooks.

Coaches mainly recruit by area. Stepp was extended in March and is still under contract until 12/31/2024 at $525,000/year. If he leaves, I expect he will be leaving for something better.

This times a thousand.
I do not believe that Stepp played a significant role in X’s development. I believe that came from being with Debo and the folks that surrounded him.

I do agree that with Wells there the WR room performs better.

100% agree. Stepp is a very good coach and person. It would be a big loss. You can't pin WR recruiting on on him. If you had Wells this year, the position would have been much different.

Yea, let's give Debo all the credit. Non of his progress was our coaches. Nice try.

Hopefully, Coley might help the offense. People complained about the defense. However, the offense was not much better as it ranked a pitiful 81st in the nation.

Stats do not tell lies. XL’s stats this year were better than the previous 4 years combined. Two of those 4 were with Stepp. Year 5, XL goes to train with whoever Debo trains with and he seems more physical, sure handed, and faster. I’m sure he learned from Stepp, but I don’t think he is responsible for XL’s season.

I am also sure XL learned from Debo. I bet he also got physically better training with the guys who trains Debo.

I have no qualms with Stepp. If he stayed our WR coach then I’m fine with it. He may be a fine young man , I don’t know him. He would not be on my list of coaches to replace unless a can’t miss hire fell in my lap. I just don’t believe he deserves much credit fir XLs season.

Did he train with anyone else before year 5? He came on strong at the end of year 4? Maybe he started Debo's program near the end of year 4?
