He could have pitched and/or played Forward for Florida.

As popular as college baseball is today (how many schools had lights on their baseball diamonds in the 1960s?), were SOS coming along now, he might very well be the Friday starter for the Gators.

I like Steve but it's always weird when he comes back here. He dress es up in Garnet and black when he visits here, like he's still with our school. I guess pieces of him still are. Seems to support us unless we play Florida.

Well, the connections are deep here, too. Winningest coach. His wife went to school here, had a kid graduate from here. Tried his hardest to beat Florida the whole time he was here. But with all of that said…of course his heart is with Florida first and foremost. He played there, has a statue there, and became a hall of fame coach there. It can be both.
