Florida will win 8-10 games this season. Florida's schedule includes Florida State, Ole Miss, LSU, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Miami (Fl).

Our schedule is similar.

Classy. You obviously have reading/comprehension difficulties. Get help. That's what Spurrier thinks; I don't.
You are still full of crap though! Lol, just kidding

I personally don’t see them winning more than 5 max and think Napier probably gets the boot maybe before season is over

Yeah, Napier is on the hot seat. So is Sam Pittman. Some think Pittman will be fired by Halloween.

UF winning 10. Laughable. 6-6 at the very best.
I can see them getting blown out in their first game against Miami, and I could not be happier.

They have absolutely NO CHANCE of 10 with that schedule. Don’t think Bama would win 10 with that
But could they win 8? Maybe? Perhaps?

Spurrier probably knows that if Napier doesn't have a strong year, he's gone. And most coaches aren't going to turn up the heat on another coach, so he probably feels obligated to be optimistic publicly.

These puerile articulations from coaches are mere utterances of sound and emissions of air, and yet they are Einsteinian compared to the pronouncements of certain fans.

We only hear what they say. We don't know what they really think.
That would prove similarly inconsequential. If their thoughts were weighty, college athletics would not be in the chaotic condition that we are seeing.

Doesn't seem to me that the chaotic condition we are seeing has anything to do with coaches un-weighty thoughts. Please elaborate.

The point was that coaches have no ability to influence the landscape through their protestations, which are unweighty.

So if they WERE weighty they would have the ability to influence the Supreme Court, whose decisions led us to the chaotic condition?

All I said, and without intention to insinuate more, is that all coach speak is vacuous and ineffectual. What would happen otherwise is probably something different, but exactly in what respect I would not venture to guess.

What do you think Beamer's position on the hot seats will be if we have another losing season this year?
None whatsoever. He can be our coach as long as he wants to be. He's protected by our inability to compete at the upper levels in the current climate no matter who the coach is.

I believe in his 4th season here, Beamer must go 7-5, which would mean a 4-4 conference record. He has no track record as a Head Coach, unlike Steve Spurrier. We KNEW Spurrier would get the job done. We don't know Beamer can. So, in his 4th season, he MUST show he has the coaching chops to succeed here. Look, both Drinkwitz and Kiffin in their 4th seasons at Missouri and Ole Miss respectively took their teams to national Top 10 finishes. I'm not saying that Beamer in his 4th season must do the same. I'm saying "just win half your conference games". I think that's reasonable and fair. You can't go, with someone who has never been a Head Coach, on just "hope". We need RESULTS. This is a business, not a charity. He is being paid $6 million+/year. He must PRODUCE.

You asked what his seat should be if he has another losing record. I say forget that. A 6-6 record means a likely 3-5 conference. I'm saying if he can't go 7-5 overall and a 4-4 conference record in his 4th season, his seat should be blazing.

Our luck will be this: he avoids a losing season by going 6-6. He then gets a 10-year contract extension. SMH Why? We are not serious about football. I think they are content if they can do well in men's and women's basketball and in baseball. When the new women's softball coach is gushing with anticipation about all the NIL money that will go her way, I can't help but go, "Hmmmmmmm".

What do you think?

Humorous. We won't be operate according to conventional wisdom because there are requisites involved that take us out of that methodology.

You could be right. BUT, I still believe that this university is not serious about football. I want and hope to be proven wrong.

The bar has been set so low for Beamer with the schedule excuse, you are probably right.

I think 7 wins against this schedule would be good. If we could close out with a bowl win and make it 8 wins, I'd call that a successful season. All of this is in in the Gamecock context, of course. 8-5 for Bama and they'd burn down the city.

I think Beamer needs at least 7 wins to show he's got coaching chops. Next year needs to be a 9-win type of season. If he can consistently be an 8-9 win coach, he's safe indefinitely.

Totally agree with all that. But some people here have said we will be lucky to win more than 5. Really? This is Beamer's 4th season here. It's time. I have predicted no worse than 7-5 from the get go. I was taken to task for that prediction. That being said, I noted last week that the Charlotte Observer went through our schedule game by game and predicted 7-5. I believe we have to keep that guys feet to the fire and not let him off the hook with excuses. We took a chance on an unproven guy who had never been a Head Coach. He has to show he can produce with a team now made up with mostly his recruits.

I mean, yeah, I agree, a coach in his 4th year ought to be able to notch 7 wins, when you start with 4 wins in your back pocket. But this is South Carolina, so it's all contextual. All we're really asking for a 3-5 record when you take out the 4 assumed easy wins.

IMO if they win 9 games, they belong in the playoffs
