bravo @GregPickel. You put together an article pretty quickly after I gave you the heads up, and the article addresses all of the questions I had about the situation.

Nice to see that PSU will have some depth at 125.
He’s never going to beat Robbie Howard. I’d be very shocked.

Yianni Diakomiholis, Kyle Dake, Bo Nickal, Anthony Cassar, Sebastian Rivera, Jake Kemerer, Hayden Hidlay, Mekhi Lewis and dozens of others might beg to differ with you.

Wrestling up tends not to work, Bartlett for example. Micic another example
If they are cutting a lot of weight and then build into the new weight class it can and has worked in the past!

Yeah, it obviously depends on the wrestler and their natural weight. For a guy that walks around at 160, 133 might be possible, but would be a rough cut and going 49 or 57 might be the better option, but if someone walks around at 134, going 141 might be a huge disadvantage. Or you have guys like Bo who would probably win it at whatever weight class they want.

Lancaster native here, who used to be tossed around like a rag doll by the Manheim Central kids....would love to see that school represented on the Penn State squad.

Correct. Big difference in wrestling up and out growing weight class. Yanni wrestled up. Dean wrestled up.

Bo Nickal went up twice, and the 2nd time was undersized. But he's special.

Countless guys have grown into a new weight and succeeded.

That said, I seriously doubt Howard is going 133. He'd be moving up in the first year back from shoulder surgery, and it was the 2nd operation on that shoulder in 2 yrs. Moving up to face bigger guys, when he likely needed to get stronger for 125, seems less than optimal.

Sometimes it works and sometimes not. It depends on the physical and mental characteristics of each wrestler. If going “up” or “down” worked in an absolute sense, we would never discuss the topic. I had a boss back in the 90’s. His favorite saying was “ain’t it great that everybody is different”.
