......when people keep telling us that we can't take our cowbells into Davis-Wade. Bottom line: Cowbells, or any other fan prop, don't win games. Players win games.

Seems like they are much too busy trying to clean up the dump, hang banners, and figure out how to get 30,000 parked and seated. Kinda makes ya wonder if the AD has had time to be a coach the past two weeks.

They even have a running thread on their board called "Game Day banners going up" with daily pics posted of BANNERS going up around their crappy place. Metal detectors? Nah, I don't believe a word of it.

Edited to add--- But I very much believe they would SAY that cow bells are not allowed and they will have metal detectors to stop them!

I understand your tradition and wanting to have them, but the above is silly. Football cleats don't win games either, but they sure as ##%! help. If artificial noise makers didn't help, they wouldn't be banned.

I think it's funny that nobody said anything about the cowbells the last 6 years, but as soon as State starts winning, well we have a problem again.

This is a thread about cowbells.

One poster commented that cowbells don't win games.

I replied in agreement, but mentioned that they do offer a slight crowd noise advantage.

If you want to deny that they give you a slight edge (the point of my post), go right ahead.

However, don't try to pretend that anyone is lobbying the league office for their removal. It's already been done.

Really? Didn't realize that. I guess it went way over my head....

They don't. If they did, then we would have averaged more than 3 wins a year the last 6 years.

I replied in agreement, but mentioned that they do offer a slight crowd noise advantage.
I agree that they would be louder than a MSU crowd just cheering, but in no way are they louder than Lsu fans cheering. I just don't think the slight crowd noise advantage is enough to ***** about cowbells.

Wasn't trying to deny that. You said it was silly that Arrow posted that cowbells don't win games. Well they don't. He didn't say that they don't give us a slight home advantage. I don't care if every college bans them from their stadium, because it's their right. They would be stupid to allow something into their stadium that would allow the visiting team an advantage. But, I also think it's Msu's right to allow them at home games.

However, don't try to pretend that anyone is lobbying the league office for their removal. It's already been done
Wasn't trying to pretend anything. Just disputing your statement that cowbells win football games, which is what I interpreted by your "that's silly" comment on Cowbells don't win ballgames.

about Thundersticks. Yet, no one seems to have a problem with them despite the fact that they are artificial noise makers as well.

No one in MLB has bitched about the Rays ringing cowbwlls either.

Also, I can't think of one game that we won where an opposing player said, "it was becasue of the cowbells". If they did, we would call them a *****.

i guarantee it would be a cluster17 trying to get in. first, they're hoping for the largest home crowd ever. if they wanted to make everyone pass through metal detectors, 3/4 of the people would still be outside in line trying to get through the metal detectors.

and as far as the artificial noisemakers, it's ridiculous to ban one while not banning the oregon quackers, thundersticks, or tennessee piping in rocky top and crowd noise through the speakers. it's also ridiculous when your former AD voted against allowing fans to continue your own school's tradition.
