Watching Joel Klatt interview Matt Rhule on FS1 right now and Nebraska has a chance to be sneaky good this year. Returning 19 starters including entire oline and almost all their defense. Losses last year were big on turnovers -17. Land 5 star QB and some good portal additions at key positions. Rhule is going to turn this program around like he did at Temple and Baylor. Anyone else have a surprise college football team they think will sneak up on people this year?

I think Rhule is finally getting Nebraska turned around.

Unfortunately they've been off our schedule while they struggled but will probably be good when we start playing them again.

That Nebraska vs. Colorado game is going to be very interesting and should be a very good game. Nebraska had 4 turnovers in that game last year. Rhule said he normally would expect this to be a 5-7 type year with their first year being 2-10 type of record. He has a system that has been very good at Temple and Baylor. He said he is a year ahead at Nebraska since so many players ended up staying and not going to the NFL. Next year is where he expects to make the big jump and compete for the playoffs.

If he gets them to 8 wins a year he did his job. It's in the middle of the country where talent has to come to him, won't consistently recruit better than 5-6 B1G teams and while he is a decent enough coach many PSU tend to over inflate his coaching resume. Easy schedule this year as well, but again....he's not winning anything there in the long run.

Can't imagine the uproar if he gets Nebraska to the playoffs before JF. I think he will be one of the coaches that is a much better college coach than pro. Next year I believe he will have Nebraska competing for a playoff spot.

Good thing is you won't have to as JF will get there first. JF would have been in 6 of the last 8 in this current format. Sucks for those that root against him, but that is what occurred. I think people that talk about Rhule and still obsess on him want PSU to be the middle of the road program, because he had PSU ties....JMO. The only place people obsess or discuss Rhule as some big time hire is at PSU to be honest. Neither job is open, neither one is going anywhere, but some still want to keep up the act....so be it. I wish Rhule no ill will, but doesn't move the needle for me at all currently.

Personally I am not sure JF is a better coach than Rhule. We are about to find out. See where both teams stand in a few years. I don't think many obsess with Rhule here at PSU. I believe Nebraska is going to sneak up on teams this year and be a solid team next year. Would I want him over JF not sure.
