They were winning at halftime, right?

Well, I guess we get to hear Boeheim complain some more this year.

No, he has said that he does not have an argument this year if they don't get in. Last year, he did have one, particularly with Stanford.

A coach should never, ever say publicly that he doesn't think his team deserves a bid. At least make a case for why you should get an invite.

They will not make it and we will see - once again - that the name on the jersey means nothing come NCAA selection time.

While you are correct about Syracuse, I think you are nuts if you think the name on the jersey doesn't mean something. How many other schools could be in Kentucky's position and be sniffing a bid? Answer: Carolina, UCLA, and Duke. That's the Holy Grail of college hoops, along with maybe Kansas, and the name on THOSE jerseys means something. Syracuse, for all their wins, is not amongst the elite programs.

I think most teams with a Top 50 RPI and a 12-4 record in the SEC would get a bid. Many people think UK is in worse shape than they actually are. The perception of a lot of their early losses was that they were really bad losses. Well, now when you look back Gardner-Webb is the only team outside the Top 100 that UK lost to all season. And G-W is also the only team that beat UK that isn't either on the bubble or in the tourney.

Maybe the name does mean something, but if you give UK's resume to any SEC school, they are looking at a bid right now.

I think the vast majority of team with a 12-4 record in a power conference would be in a similar position.

For instance, take Mississippi State. They were 5-5 with a couple of bad losses and hadn't played teams like Louisville, UNC, or Indiana. Yet after a 12-4 run in the conference, they are now a lock.

Syracuse is not considered in the elite of college basketball. If anybody doesnt think Kentucky is in though, you are kidding yourself.

Not directly linked to this topic but I wasnt going to start a new thread for it. Saw at lunch on ESPN where they showed all Big East First team. 11 players on First team. Sec was only good enough to have 9 and that was with a tie. I guess its nearly like like allstars in baseball. Everyteam has to be represented. Bilas or Digger one made a dig about its not football people.

I heard that too on 360 here at work. I went to the Big East site. There were four guys who were unanimous on the first team, along with seven more. Then on the second team there were 10 more. Then to top if off, there was a five man Honorable Mention team that basically means you are fifth team All Big East with one of them as sixth team!!!!

Heck, here they are.

Syracuse is one of the top 25 programs in college basketball. That may not be what you call elite, but they have had a lot of success. I think Kentucky got into the tourney with their win over Florida on Sunday. But it has nothing to do with the name on the front of their jersey. It has everything to do with their recent success.
