what are your thoughts re our tackling. we are getting to RBs in the backfield quite often, but then they are able to get a short gain. We seem to struggle getting them on the ground. watching the replay now, it is surprising how often we need a couple tacklers to finish. Tony Rojas (13) is actually one of the LBs who seems to struggle, but plenty of others.

Excellent beef........
The last couple of yrs the tackling has improved immensely under Rojas, I'm sure Tom will address any tackling issues once the players understand fully the Allen System. Mastering New offensive & defensive systems don't happen overnight as many of us truly believe. Players need time to adjust....

How do they coach tackling currently? Seems both college and pro you see a lot of dropping the shoulder and going in without trying to wrap up. Then you see the ball carrier just hesitate or twist and just get bumped and the tackle missed. DO they teach dropping the shoulder for the tackle in certain situations? I know I'm old, but we were always drilled to wrap up. Trying to avoid injures?

Tackling is universally bad. Full contact time is limited by rule at all levels. The NFHS limited contact practices beginning in 2015. So the skill will never be what it once was. In addition, spread offenses put ball carriers in space making it more difficult for defenders.

I haven't studied the replays but I noticed twice in the WVa game Rojas lowered his shoulder instead of wrapping up and it cost us extra yards.

+1. It’s probably how he hurt his shoulder.
Dan C. Is going to have to work with him a little more.

In the olden days they taught to get your head across the bow wrap lift drive. Due to concussions etc the head went behind the bow and basically pull the guy down
The wrap up went away when everybody want to do the strip and get the ball out. Caused a lot of extra yardage as they try to get the strip and the guy runs thru an arm tackle
Shaking
My head. There r YouTubes on how they teach it now
