Was planning on buying one of the small honda generators next month to tailgate with. The battery(s) and invertor thing is getting old. Anybody heard of us (MSU) changing the rules on campus about generators. Other than the small fume issue if you are packed in tight - I don't understand the issue in Oxpatch.

quiet as a honda.

Edited to say: Here's an idea. Email Greg Byrne and ask him. He will respond to your email, which makes him the greatest AD ever in the history of AD's. He also made a decent hire.

We just purchased one recently. I wasn't aware of UM's ban, but I would imagine the true purpose behind the rule is to keep people from bringing the big loud ones. Seems they would just ban those, as opposed to a blanket prohibition on all generators. I always wondered why I didn't see more TVs in the grove, but I just assumed it was due to the lack of a clear shot for a satellite, or maybe because many folks in the grove aren't all that interested in football.

I sure hope he has his automated reply set up to recognize specific questions and respond appropriately.

Generators are obnoxious as hell. It's like tailgaiting at a truck stop when you have five tents around you all running generators. ****, enjoy the company, the fresh air and the football game you are there to see. If you can't leave your TV at home for a couple hours then you have problems.

I just know there will be many folks, including myself, pissed off if State tries to prohibit all generators.

we just got a honda for our tailgating this year. It's awsome.

The guy that tailgates next to us is a CE (I think) and works on campus with the campus planning folks and they manage the gameday festivities. He hasn't said anything about it.

He did say this year is probably the last year the road will be there in front of Bell Island.

Coleman makes one (sold at Lowes) that operates at ~70dB whereas the Honda 1000i operates at ~57dB - very quiet in eco mode

edit because I can't hit reply correctly

"Yes, I have an automated 'generator on campus' reply already set up. Thanks for the heads up and for your support of MSU Athletics. Go Dogs!"

This guy is good.

Generators are allowed everywhere at Ole Miss except in the Grove.

By rule, batteries are not allowed in the Grove either, but they don't enforce that.

Propane is not allowed in the Grove either. It is enforced.

Open flame is not allowed in the Grove. It is not enforced.

Many areas of the Grove and Circle have electricity.

As long as you keep the lid secure, those Abner's trays will stay pretty warm.

Ridicule aside, my group uses an inverter and a deep cycle marine battery, with a backup which we have never had to use. Power all day with zero noise. That's the way to go.

</p>More than likely. They have already started that bell island project. They are putting down a wide brick walkway between McCool, the Union, and Perry right now. They are moving toward Bell Island.

The Big sign on the south side of McCool shows the road being eliminated. But with the limited time I looked at it... It looks like the road that runs in front of the Chapel of Memories is going to stay.

I thought you were talking about some random MState game this past season. Stupid me. I think they play in LA this weekend. May have had something to do with it.

Edit: The game is in Boston tonight. I'm a dumbass.
