Why leaving Maryland?
Too much competition? I would believe UM wouldn't influence players of this physical stature to leave!

He has two years of eligibility left. Perhaps he wants to follow the Chop Robinson example and move to a program that can compete at a higher level and where players and coaches get along together. The amount of guys fleeing MD makes it pretty clear there are internal issues.

Maryland offensive line transfer Mason Lunsford signs with LSU
According to Billy Embody of On3’s The Bengal Tiger, LSU has landed offensive lineman Mason Lunsford out of the NCAA transfer portal. Lunsford originally signed for and spent the past three seasons with Maryland and will now be moving to the SEC.
Last year with the Terrapins, Lunsford played in and started all 13 games at left guard. As a redshirt freshman in 2020, he was also able to play on the right side. Head coach Brian Kelly will have the abiliyut to play Lunsford at either guard spot.
Lunsford played high school football at Olney (MD) Good Counsel, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1418 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Better to have once been....as opposed to a never was been.Just think about the possibilities.
