...why are we doing that again?

we have to pay for the scoreboard?

I think the La Tech game should have a tribute to LT at halftime. This is the cheapest thing I have ever seen since our baseball uniforms last year.

edit to add: not sure why the reply ended up where it did - swear I had it in the right place - the whole thing was acting weird when I was trying to preview

Just guessing but I would imagine the hotels large enough to accomodate our team would be in Shreveport and it wouldn't make much sense to fly in there and bus an hour. It's ridiculous that we are playing there at all so I can understand that they just fly in, play and get out.

Busing an hour from S'port would be less taxing than flying the same day. Maybe Croom is using it as a teaching tool for professionalism and readiness, thinking we can handle the extra stress against the weaker opponent. We'll see.

...You're talking about 18-22 year old dudes showing up at probably 8am to ride a bus 15 minutes to GTR, then sit on a plane for less than an hour and finally ride another bus a short distance. And all the while they won't carry anything but their ipod and cell phones.

I think they can handle it.

I remember when we played Moss point our Senior year. It was a Saturday afternoon game, so we bused out at 7:30 A. M. We got to Moss Point around noon (back then, you had the 55 m.p.h. speed limit), ate lunch, and then went to the Stadium. We beat them 44-0.

If we could do it, I know the State football team could.</p>

1. What if bad weather causes a significant delay in flying out of Golden Triangle or into Ruston/Shreveport/Monroe?

2. I like the idea of having a light practice on the field you're going to be playing on the day before.

3. Are we so strapped for cash that we can't afford a hotel for our players Friday night? We can't be talking about more than $10,000 total for hotel and meals.

I doubt anybody gets on and off a plane in less than an hour. I have heard that flying affects hydration. I feel that it affects balance also. A mental aspect of travelling may also exist. You're obviously the expert, but I think your facts are marginal.

But, yeah, I agree that our guys can probably handle it. I don't agree with it, but they'll probably handle it fine. Of course I don't know the reason for the tight schedlule. Maybe it's not wanting the players to miss more class than necessary.

We have to bus to the GTA...hop on the plane and fly to Monroe....they then have to bus to Ruston (20 miles)...from there, they will probably get hotel rooms to lounge in during the day...pre-game meal...then head to the stadium

Is it the best way? I dont think so....but we'll see

Veazey mentioned something to the fact that there are no full-service hotels in Ruston. This isn't high school where Everett can pull up the bus to McDonald's and let the team go have a happy meal.

If this was an 11am game, I could understand the uproar to an extent. But the game isn't till 5:30. I'm sure our poor young boys will have plenty of time to adjust to their excruciatingly long flight across the one state line.

Mutt, that must have been right after Hurricane Frederick because we had to do the same thing. Took all of our own water too cause theirs wasn't working or safe one. Parked the bus in front of their little visitors locker room to block the doors cause they had to be left open so we could see to dress, no electricity. We got beat 19-0 though.

Per Brad P-staying in Columbus the night before-flying to Monroe-busing to Ruston. He didnt mention anything about a hotel in Ruston.

this will be their first time in an airplane and their first collegiate game, all in the same day. Nice.

Fly into Monroe Friday morning (spiral to hell from Huntsville), workout Friday afternoon, & be ready to play Saturday. I don't get it ('course I'm a little slow but I do make well over 6 figures).

Frederick hit the month before. We were lucky to have been in the Coast division that year. Our games against Gulfport, MP, and 'Goula were ridiculously easy, far easier than normal. The main thing I remember about the Pascagoula game was that, after the game, they kept on badgering us for some dope. Like hell we were gonna give those losers our dope.

And these are the same dudes who all recently spent many a Friday night riding a yellow bus to play in a football game. You're right. They can handle it. And anybody that bitches about this, just likes to *****.
