Read that a 10 game Big Ten schedule is being considered. Given 4 more teams, it seems like there are enough teams to keep schedules fresh but what happens to the 2 OOC games? Penn State wants 7 home games so this means one-and-done deals like we give MAC schools. No more Auburns, or even WVUs.

When networks pay as much as they do to the Big Ten, they want content (read: games), which could be what's spurring this. Even if PSU eliminates one of the one-and-done deals, the additional amount that PSU receives from the Big Ten's media rights deal will more than offset lost revenue.

Easy solution, just add 2 more games to the season. 14 games total. 7 home 7 away. allows for 10 conference games (5 home, 5 away) and 4 non conference (2 & 2) it allows for 4 home and home series to be scheduled.

Its a win/win/win. After all, College Football is a business. Extra TV money for the schools. Players get NIL money. Fans get more games to watch. Why do we need 4 weeks from the conference champion games to get to the playoffs?

One home-and-home every year as well as one one-and-done would make for seven and six home games in alternating years. That's not to say a lost home game every other year is insignificant but adjustments will have to be made. It's either that or play two home games every year against the MAC. Then people would complain about the lack of an interesting home schedule.

Won't the 12 team playoff begin on the 3rd weekend in December? That's only one or two weeks after the conference championships isn't it?

Well, someone has to pay for Furman's and Chattanooga's athletic budget with one-and-done games. May as well be the SEC.

Ask the folks who own a business in SC if they mind PSU losing a home game! Will PSU compensate them?????

I'd be shocked to see the Big Ten go to 10 conference games any time soon. Especially if the SEC and ACC are still doing 8 conference games.

Edit: I see the source of the rumor is someone on the Michigan on3 board. Sorry, but that doesn't strike me as credible even if they are an insider. Wake me up when mainstream media reports it. At most, this is one of the conference ADs bringing it up before it get shot down immediately.

How about we add UCLA, USC, Oregon and Washington? Not long ago you would have thought that would be outstanding. I'll settle for 2 crappy OOC games. We get those anyway.

I would hope not. It's not Penn States responsibility to make their business work.
I bet the owners of The Corner Room or Champs will be pissed if PSU does not have 7 home games

If we go to 10 Conference games, then it may be best just to schedule 2 easy 1 and done OOC games each year. This would guarantee the all important 7 home games each year. 10 games against our B1G opponents will provide more than enough competition for any CFP Committee.
