Vanderbilt does not have the basketball program NIL$$$ requirements that we do to pull $$$ from football, but their football program has certainly been VERY impressive … for sure.

Getting caught? I didn't get caught. I am simply saying that unlike you I am not happy to get 6 wins and keep a coach that proved he doesn't want to be here and would have left UK if A@M hadn't pulled his offer. So yeah you are damn right that after seeing (luckily I haven't watched a game this year) another year of a team with talent play like crap all because of a crappy coach that checked out last year...I don't want to see the team get lucky and get to 6 wins and Mitch give Stoops a pay raise and celebrate. But hey if that is what you want more power to you.

Yes I hope Stoops fails, at this point the program is an embarrassment. There is 0 justification to keep a coach making 9 mill a year to crap the bed week after week. When the program is the but of jokes from announcers, its time for a change. "Fans" like you are part of the problem, you continue to support mediocrity. If your expectations are some crappy bowl year after year, well you have your wish. Whatever fleeting success stoops has had was built on 2 seasons (1 vacated) in a down SEC and he still couldnt capitalize on it. The powder puff wins, while nice are meaningless(36-62) 7-20 since 2022 against the SEC 3-16 against the last 19 power 5 opponents.14-31 against the top 20, thats not even mediocrity, thats a straight up losing record.

Honest question. I admit I do not know the answer, but have the NIL$$$ and transfer portal, for whatever reasons like basketball, demise of coal, limited financial resources, expansion of SEC, etc., made it easier or harder for KY to be moderately successful playing SEC football ??

It can be done, you just have to have a dept and coaching staff committed to it, and it might lessen some of the basketball. and that is why it will not. but dont kid yourself, coal is still being mined, just being sold overseas

Some of you seem way too happy to see things go wrong. I'd never root against UK or hope for an empty stadium with glee just to get rid of our coach. The buyout situation all but assures at least one more season unless Stoops himself decides he has had enough. If this season continues to tank and next season is not considerably better I suspect Stoops will decide he has had enough unless returning personnel is exceptional enough to restore his confidence in this situation.

Stoops is finished. He’s always been in over his head. He just can’t believe some school has given him the years and this type of contract. He’ll likely suck every dime that brain dead Barnhart guaranteed him.

Also, just because coal is mined in KY, regardless of where the owners reside, it is not automatic that coal operators want to contribute significantly to athletic programs, versus academic initiatives or other charitable ventures.

So that is where the money is in coal? The owners that sold mineral rights. Or is it the ones that dig and sell coal? Coal is dying. Of the companies I listed above, 4 out of the top 5 have abandon defunct facilities in Kentucky.

there are a lot of well off horse farms and distilleries in the area. Do they not support UK athletics? Being the States flagship program you would think they would also get support from around the State.
