Exactly. Moral of this story is a weak schedule makes a weak opponent look stronger.Or, a win over 5-7 Citadel moves a team with a much, much weaker SOS up significantly higher in the ratings while a win by another closely rated team with a much, much stronger SOS over 5-7 Wofford barely moves the rating needle.
a loss to a ranked Alabam team carries a greater penalty than a loss to an unranked Vanderbilt team?
Agreed. Now being neutered isnt enough, they need to be put down. I gotta wonder how though? Who would have the authority to do it?The selection committee needs to be disbanded and let AI pick the teams.
Although true, if the concern is an equal playing field, that wont bring it.Just revert to the age old advice.
Just win your games, don't leave the game in the hands of the refs and the rest will take care of its self.

I think this is a pretty lazy take. Close games are a thing. As a matter of fact, it’s what makes sports great. If every game was a blowout with no doubt left then there would be no point in watching. To sit there and say that it’s our fault because we let the game against LSU even be close is just ridiculous in my opinion. Every team will have close games. Yes, even champions. Those games shouldn’t be decided by officiating. Period.Just revert to the age old advice.

I made no mention of any particular opponent, nor suggest any game must be a blowout, or declare fault with any entity.I think this is a pretty lazy take. Close games are a thing. My mistake. “Don’t leave the game in the hands of the refs” would you care to elaborate on exactly what you meant by that? At least as in how it pertains to our season in particular?I made no mention of any particular opponent, nor suggest any game must be a blowout, or declare fault with any entity.
It appears you have inserted your own projections to validate a non argument.
I really don't feel I need to, most have heard this maxim many times before and are clear to its meaning. My mistake. “Don’t leave the game in the hands of the refs” would you care to elaborate on exactly what you meant by that? At least as in how it pertains to our season in particular?
So you’re upset that I said it’s a lazy take. And rather than clarifying, since it appears I misinterpreted the message you were trying to convey about our team and season, you would rather continue with laziness.I really don't feel I need to, most have heard this maxim many times before and are clear to its meaning.
Your advice is correct as an instruction to a team on how to make the playoff, but so far this year only one team in the country has followed your advice fully. For everybody else (minus the automatic-qualifiers), I'm afraid a deeper level of analysis is required - a level deeper than what the committee has demonstrated so far. Worse, their analysis appears inconsistent week to week.Just revert to the age old advice.

Doesn’t matter. His name has Harvard in it and he used an age-old adage that requires no thought or explanation, according to him.Your advice is correct as an instruction to a team on how to make the playoff, but so far this year only one team in the country has followed your advice fully. You know, AI would probably do an amazingly better job!!! The only question is would AI eventually develop bias? The selection committee needs to be disbanded and let AI pick the teams.
But that’s not even a guaranteed outcome with the CFP committee. What i learned is that if we want to be ahead of Bama in polls, we should beat them when we play them.
