This is based on the committees rankings before the final selection.

UM had 3 top 25 wins with an average ranking of each the team they beat was 10.67

Alabama had 4 top 25 wins with an average rating of 11.5 with a loss to #6

FlSt had 3 top 25 wins with an average rating of 16.67

UT had 3 top 25 wins with an average rating of 17 with the worst loss to #12.

UW had 4 top 25 wins with an average rating of 11.25. (Beat Oregon twice)

With what I came up with is

1) UW
2) Um
3) UA
4)FlSt

Texas should have been left out based on SOS and having the worse loss of the teams considered.

Rankings can be circumstantial. Look at us in 2014. We weren't the best team in the country when we hit #1. We simply got lucky and beat 3 very overrated SEC teams (who were eventually 8 win teams) when they were highly ranked (all in the top 8) in a row. The stars aligned allowing us to get to #1.

That why I used rankings after week 13

Washington and Bama had the most difficult schedules with 4 wins against teams that finished in the Playoff Committees rankings as of week 13.

Point of order - From the final rankings, Texas’ 3 Top 25 wins averaged 16.33. FSU’s averaged 16.67.

If you flipped Bama and FSU in the final rankings, Texas / FSU’s would have both would have averaged 16.67.

You have a point on the worst loss part of it, but Texas had a huge SOS advantage. #13 vs. #55, and the top end of their schedule was better as well.

In the end, I think the committee just felt both Texas and Bama were better football teams than FSU, and there was enough meat on the bone for them to put both in. Something unprecedented was going to happen no matter what, so they just did what they had to do based on their best judgment.

I am through arguing and just tell whoever is bitching about it that we should have 12 teams… then the argument would be about much less important teams for sure there would be less righteous indignation rampant.

Pretty crazy to me that the team with a 29 game winning streak and a perfect regular season record isn't even getting a nibble.

It's done on purpose. Viewers are tired of seeing the 2 best programs go at it (Georgia and Bama). So you have to leave one of them out (last year, this year).

As we add more teams it will seem more fair, but watch Georgia and Bama go back again and again to the championship game.

There are aggregate computer models in Vegas that rate each team's 2 deep roster. Do that and Bama and Georgia in a class above anyone else. Starters its more even with the other top 10 teams. Two deep and it's over, it is only Georgia and Bama.

They had to put Texas in to justify putting Bama in with a head to head loss to them. The only way to put both Bama and Georgia in was to put Texas in, but that would leave out Washington which was not happening.

So can losses. If we lose to those 3 teams they would have at least been 9 wins and probably more.

If it was the 4 best teams it should have been UM, UW, Bama, UGA. If it was on the field results it should have been UM, UW, FSU, Texas.
