Anyone who reads this knows how bad our softball team was in all areas and being not even close competitive in the SEC. That emblem of SEC got her the benefit of the doubt on being selected several times to the NCAA Softball tournament of 64. Lastly I will say this our softball facility is ok but compare it to Florida, Texas, the new 30m dollar facility at Oklahoma USC is going to have to spend some money to bring it even close to these SEC softball facilities. Going to take a lot of money and hopefully whoever the new coach is they will support whoever it is to bring the softball facility up to the standards of the other SEC schools. Right now with the entitlemnt of athletes and everything and the schools having to pay athletes along with supporting non revenue sports like Equestrian, volleyball, mens and womens track, swimming along with paying the coaches for all these sports I do not know where the money is going to come from. From what I have been hearing a lot of supporters at a lot of schools are not participating in NIL. Fans and booster are tired of buying tickets, parking, paying $10 for a hotdog, $12 for a beer and booster club membership. Called booster fatigue and I am not sure what a lot of small schools are going to do. I think in the next 5 years a lot of schools will drop sports, some may even drop football. I already see it happen with a lot of small schools.

They need 3 top divisions each with their own championship:

1. Power 4
2. Group 5
3. FCS for teams like Wofford

Each tier has a NIL cap and gives teams something to play for

I don't know diddly about girls softball, but Beverly Smith seems like the perfect name for a softball coach.

Softball believe it or not is a sport that I believe is really good for the female athletes. I have watched a lot of softball over the years starting back when USC started their softball program and yes they were really good under Joyce Compton. To this day they hold the 3rd best accomplishment of winning 38 games in a row, going to the womens college world series. USC was truly a leader in softball during those days. In 1997 the SEC decided to support womens softball and have championships. USC won the SEC champions in 1997-1998. The other SEC schools got on board and put money in softball, stadiums, coaches. Compton got lazy and quit recruiting at a high level and schools like Florida, Alabama, Tennessee put tremendous amounts of money in softball. USC has not recovered from Comptons poor recruiting, being lazy and then Beverly Smith the same she could not recruit the high level players like Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, UCLA and now Oklahoma who recently just built a $30m dollar softball facility with a new field, and other supporting things like hitting cages, pitching facilities, same with Texas who along with Oklahoma are coming in the SEC starting July1, 2024. If you look at other softball stadiums in the SEC USC is really far behind. They are going to have to spend a lot of money on their softball facility to stay competive. Where that money is going to come from is another issue with NIL and everything else it is going to be tough. USC just hired a new softball coach hopefully she can be able to recruit and get USC back to being relevant. One can only hope as she has a big challenge ahead of her.

I enjoy softball. My daughters played and the college game is really fun. The games move faster than baseball because there are fewer pitching changes etc. USC needed to make a change. The program was stagnant - even though they made the postseason most years, they were always in the bottom half or even bottom third of the league... plus you had schools like Duke and Clemson add softball in the last few years and they're already so much better than USC. Duke made the world series this year. Hopefully Chastain can make USC more competitive in the SEC!

Sorry, but I can't get into girls' softball until they weed out all those pitchers with ultra tight pants attempting to cover those gigantic butts.

How do you feel about guys straightening up their parts every time they bat or run to a base?

If we’re putting a team on the field, we should be totally committed to winning. Easier said than done but you get my drift.

Our softball stadium is the only one I’ve seen. What do the other schools facilities have that Carolina would “need”? Also, if there happens to be funding in the future, is there even space to add those around the stadium. Ours is sandwiched pretty snug between the track and beach volleyball.

I'm not into women's softball. However, I am very impressed with the new coach and how she will approach building SC into a power.

So, OK spent $30,000,000 on a softball stadium? Can somebody please explain to me what a softball stadium has that costs $30,000,000?
Oklahoma is the standard for college softball, everything you would need, batting cages, medical and nutrition building, weight, exercise and a small track facility to increase the speed of the the player. New filming and technology building just to name a few. Most power 5 schools offer all this to the football program not to non revenue sports like softball, volleyball, track. This is why Oklahoma has won 4 straight national championships in softball.

Did I say that, Ms. Shannon? I'm sure your husband is proud of your deductive skills!
... says the expert in deductive reasoning. I'm not a Ms. (that's one error) and I don't have a husband (that's two). Are you familiar with the phrase "Better to be silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt"?

Welcome back madam! Already suspected you were husband-less.

A wife? You gotta love this “open” society! Good for you.
It IS good for me! Been so for 24 years! I guess I might as well end this discussion. For those keeping score, you've gotten almost NOTHING right. All you're doing is showing your ignorance, misunderstanding, and disdain for something of which you have no clue. You're assuming I'm a member of the LGBTQ community. I'm not, although I support them whole-heartedly. Friends...family... strangers... let people love who they want. Marry who they want. Dress in whatever makes them comfortable. You be you, but hating something of which you have so little understanding is pretty despicable. I'm sure you're about to start spouting insults because that's what ignorant people do when they lose an argument. It's expected and I'm "man enough" to take your jabs.

BTW, I'm a guy.
