Beamer said in his post game they coach the team to block the qb on an interception as the return man has to get past him. However, Emmanwori (SP?) was well past the QB when Kennard blocked him. I am sure he was frustrated from being held most of the day (with few holding calls being called on LSU) and saw an opportunity and thought he would get a little retribution with a small shove that turned into "unnecessary roughness." Players just have to know they cannot risk affecting a play like that for that reason. Why give the refs the opportunity to impact the game with a "touchy touchy" penalty. We go up there 41-29 on the pick 6 and the game is pretty much in the bag.
Good news is we really were equal to or better than LSU today. Good game plan. Good execution overall. Players playing their butts off. The defense is real - announcers of the Kentucky/Georgia talked about our defense against Kentucky in light of what Kentucky was doing against Georgia. I hate LaNorris has a sprained ankle (takes weeks to fully recover). Robby Ashford can get the job done against Akron. A good week of practice then a week off. In essence, LaNorris has 3 weeks to get better. 3 games into the season and I believe we are competitive in every game left on our schedule. Don't think we will win them all. Just believe we do not get blown out in any game. The October gauntlet will be daunting no doubt. I think there is a real chance at 7-5 (thought after ODU, we would be lucky to win more than 4). Glad this team has proven me wrong on that thought. We now have a team that is exciting and entertaining to watch. We have a coaching staff that can get it done recruiting and game planning wise. LSU is a blue blood of college football and we went toe-to-toe with them. A few more recruiting cycles for depth and we make the move to the next level of top tier in the SEC - top 4-5 in the conference. That gets us in the college playoff conversation. I hate the loss. I loved the effort and competitiveness. We beat ourselves. We were equal to the task. We will win these kinds of games in the future.
