...the entire concept of the elements that compaose a complete football team. At some point, all components must be better than the NFL average to fielding a winning team.

Analysts will have fans believe that a starting QB is the equivalent of a starting pitcher in baseball. For those who are truly paying attention, they realize that solid execution is needed and talent in all three aspects of the game: Offense, Defense, and Special Teams. (Baseball is pitching, hitting, and fielding -- as even the best pitchers cannot win the game solely on shutiing down the other team)

Fans (especially Dallas fans) may not recall or have forgotten that the SB champion Cowboy teams were reliant on Emmitt Smith running the ball and Aikman, Irvin, Harper, Novacek, and others were not going to pass their way to victory. The converse is also true: without the passing threat, Emmitt Smith or Moose Johnston was not going to carry the Cowboys to victory. Lastly, the defense was underrated, but effective as it was built for speed and gang-tacking. So to say that Dak was the cause of Dallas losing is completely inaccurate: it was a combination substandard coaching, substandard preparation, substandard total team execution, and ultimately a substandard GM that has lead to the outcome. Player talent alone wasn't going to achieve success.

Unfortunately, like mainstream media (CNN, MSNBC, FOX), ESPN analysts and other sports media want fans to drink the Kool-Aid for viewrship purposes. The reality is that the Belichiks and Sabans of the world win consistently due to a TQM approach to football (like Jimmy Johnson did in the 90s for Dallas). Until that effort level is embraced, Dak and Dallas will will be happy to make the playoffs but always exiting in the first round. Unfortunately, that level of leadership is in very short supply.
