Furman University’s Frank Selvy is among nine college basketball icons selected to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2022, it was announced today.

1st sporting event televised live by Greenville television channel 4 (WFBC at the time. WYFF now) was Selvy’s 100 pt. game vs. Newberry in 1954. The “old” Textile Hall building on W. Washington St.in Greenville. Pre-dated the Greenville Memorial Auditorium. The joke around town was there must have been 50K in attendance based on all who claimed to have been present that night!!

I only attended one game there, but it was not that one. Very much a cracker box of an arena.
