I’ll never forget being at that game. Had to have set a record for punts. As we were leaving my dad, who had temporarily lost his mind, told an Auburn fan he was chatting up how this was such a phenomenal game. That Auburn fan looked at him like he had 3 heads and so did I lol

Unreal that we lost to LA Tech to open the season and it was only like the third or fourth most WTF loss we had that year.

Honorable (or rather dishonorable) mention also to the Kentucky game where we wore the helmets with the big pink ribbons on the side. Lost 14-13 because we missed both an extra point and a 27 yard field goal in the 4th quarter.

That LA Tech loss hurt. We thought we had turned the corner and then came out like that. I think that season dropped my fandom down a notch.

I was “all in” before that. I’ve been much more cautious since.

I “watched” both in a construction trailer in California via the old ESPN gamecast that was essentially watching a graphic of a football moving (or not) back and forth on a field with play-by-play descriptions.

What’s even worse is the safety wasn’t even a result of a State player doing something, it was a hold by an Auburn player in the endzone.

I left that game at half because of a terrible headache. Didn't listen to it on the way home until we were in Jackson. Turned on the post-game show and was like WTF???
