I've never understand the award shows. Have never watched them and never understood why people get excited about them. "I need to watch the Oscars so they can tell me what the best movies was." Why does it matter to the individual what they think best movie was? I doubt the best movie selection has ever been my favorite movie for that year. I'm sure there's something about it that I'm missing, but I've never gotten the fuss.
I certainly can't argue with you. It's just a 'different strokes, for different folks' kinda thing, I guess. The one I could never understand was how many people would go apeshit over the Super Bowl commercials. C'mon, really??? LOL!!! Commercials??? Better yet ... Dove Hunters!!! ESPECIALLY the ..."It's Thanksgiving Day!!! Gotta break the law and go Dove Hunting TODAY!". LOL!!!
When I was in college, sure, we watched the "Oscars". Why? Because, as students, we had seen
every film, at every theater in town the past year and just wanted to see what the Academy folks thought vs those of us, who actually had to spend our very limited money to see the movie. But, I haven't watched 'em since.
Would have never watched 'Green Book' if it weren't for all the awards I heard about them winning. So, I guess they do serve some purpose. Some like bourbon, some like scotch, some don't drink at all. Nobody is wrong. Get your thrills wherever you can.
