I've never understand the award shows. Have never watched them and never understood why people get excited about them. "I need to watch the Oscars so they can tell me what the best movies was." Why does it matter to the individual what they think best movie was? I doubt the best movie selection has ever been my favorite movie for that year. I'm sure there's something about it that I'm missing, but I've never gotten the fuss.

It’s a group of people putting on a show to recognize and give awards to themselves. For far too long people ate this stuff up. Now these morons have more influence in the world that most people who actually know what the hell they are doing.

I used to be interested, back when they made real movies with real acting, so long ago I've forgotten the year! I spent last night watching 12 o'clock high, I've seen it many times and it's still a good watch!

Agree, it's mostly Elitist telling other Elitist how great they are. And for some strange reason they somehow think that the rest of the world cares about their Opinions.

I certainly can't argue with you. It's just a 'different strokes, for different folks' kinda thing, I guess. The one I could never understand was how many people would go apeshit over the Super Bowl commercials. C'mon, really??? LOL!!! Commercials??? Better yet ... Dove Hunters!!! ESPECIALLY the ..."It's Thanksgiving Day!!! Gotta break the law and go Dove Hunting TODAY!". LOL!!!

When I was in college, sure, we watched the "Oscars". Why? Because, as students, we had seen every film, at every theater in town the past year and just wanted to see what the Academy folks thought vs those of us, who actually had to spend our very limited money to see the movie. But, I haven't watched 'em since.

Would have never watched 'Green Book' if it weren't for all the awards I heard about them winning. So, I guess they do serve some purpose. Some like bourbon, some like scotch, some don't drink at all. Nobody is wrong. Get your thrills wherever you can.

The last time I watched one, Billy Crystal was hosting. I do not consider myself to have been deprived in the years since.

... and pay hikes. Attach such and such "award winner" to their name or even "nominated for" a such and such award and they can demand more money. And if they get more money, everyone working with them get more money. It's become a racket.

All awards shows are unwatchable. But that's OK because each is really just that industry patting itself on the back.

Didn’t watch a second. Used to watch all of them, especially the Grammys since I’m a big music fan. Watched none of that and was glad I didn’t after seeing clips of some of the crap on there. No more awards shows for me - I’ve got better things to do.

If they'd keep their political comments to themselves, I'd watch.
