Somewhere Woody and Bo are smiling.
When I played as well as when I coached I ran the power I. I mean the true power I with a FB, TB and the third setback I called a flexback 90% of the time.
Never threw the ball more than 6 or 7 times a game in my final 10 years as a head coach. I just love the sight of a fullback stepping on the toes of a LB on an Iso or an OLB/DE on a POT.
I had long retired from coaching and often visited my high school coach (Joe Sarra)....we would meet up and spend a few days at PSU spring practice. I think it was 2009 or 2010...one of JoePa's last....that Coach Sarra introduced me to George Chaump. Chaump was a legendary high school coach at John Harris before spending about 11 seasons as Woody Hayes' backfield coach.
I was pushing 60 years old and being in the company of Woody's backfield coach made me feel like a giddy kid.
