Sometimes, blowouts happen in basketball, especially on the road. Tennessee lost by 30 to Florida. Kentucky lost by 20 to Ohio State. Purdue lost by 18 to Auburn and 18 to Marquette. We lose by 22 at the #1 team in the country and some of y’all are ready to give up on the season. It’s really pathetic.

My bad. Yeah, it was awesome to watch us spread cheeks and never be in it. I mean sure, they’re without their leader in points, rebounds and assists, but let’s just lay down. They’re number 1 after all. Give me a break. It’s not chicken little to ask for some fight. It’s embarrassing how we lay down.

We were down 19 at half. The difference was never in single digits after 10 or so minutes of play. Imagine if Broome had played. Would we have lost by 40? Just fight hard. Keep it close for a while. Make them earn it. You don’t have to win but at least play like you could.

I praise them when they play well. But tonight they played like cowards. Hubbard is lost. Will he get it back? We’ll see. But right now I wouldn’t like our chances against anyone. We shouldn’t do anything but practice shooting and defending 3’s the rest of this week. We will not win again if those two things don’t improve.

The Hubbard thing worries me the most. He’s being selfish too. We just aren’t as skilled as many of these other teams seem to be

Youre a prime example of some on here who can’t wait for whoever to lose but during all the wins you’re nonexistent. Literally the worst.
As soon as we lose they come out of the woodwork to b!tch and moan. I hope they’re trolls because if they’re not, they’re the worst fans ever.

Give our fans a break. All we ask is that State wins every game they play, and not only win all games but win in a way that is acceptable to our incredibly prestigious basketball pedigree.

No we don’t. Being competitive would have gone a long way tonight. We weren’t. And we see OM doing what they are, it pisses us off. And rightfully so

Watching OM win is the biggest catalyst of the ranting tonight. I honestly think a majority of our fans would rather see them lose than us win.

We got blown out on the road by the nation's number 1 team. It happens. We are 14-3 headed for the tournament again and fans are saying "When's baseball?" This attitude is exactly why we don't have a sustainable winning basketball program.

More concerned that the team has given up 95 at home playing the way our opponent likes to play, then went on the road and played defense like 5 year olds play soccer: everyone chasing the guy with the ball and 4 guys left open. I remember it being really funny watching 5 year old soccer games! Not so much watching NIL era college basketballl!

I'm pretty confident fans attitudes have nothing to do with the ability to sustain winning basketball. I think that is up to coaches to coach and players to play consistently consistent!

A level headed fan would say, “We should play Auburn tough if they are missing their best player.” That’s a reasonable take. We didn’t play the team that earned the #1 ranking. And we still got run out of the gym in 10 minutes. A special needs fan says, “tHeyRRR nUMbur Wun! wE sHUd eXpECk tO giT bLoWEd out! qUiT bEinG uH cHiKen LiDddLe!”

I'm pretty confident you are wrong.

Also we are playing with consistency. We have made 2 straight NCAA tournaments and are on our way to a third. We haven't made the tournament 3 straight times in 20 years and that stretch was the only time in our history we have made 3 straight. So yes I would say we are playing pretty consistently for our standards.

No team plays with 100% consistency. Florida is about to lose at home to Missouri.

So Alabama and Missouri can show up on the road against top 5 teams and we look like SWAC against ours. Yeah, things are great

Our fans have been force fed garbage and disappointment for going on about 3 years in every sport that matters and some that don’t (baseball). So if they want to vent, let them. You aren’t the fan police. You’re not getting any cool six pack points. It’s tiring to constantly be embarrassed as a fan. I’d trade athletic programs and seasons with almost every SEC team. That’s how it is these days. So yeah, when our only decent team craps the bed in an opportunity to give us a little hope, people are going to vent.

We are literally at the bottom across everything. It’s got to stop. We are in a dark time of State athletics and those in charge don’t care.

Wow! I have no idea I was cheering for cowards on our court or that I quit being a level-headed fan. I would interrupt these pearls of wisdom, but I know it'll return our next 20-point beat down. Please continue...

Yep that’s the typical State fan, every thing is great. Everything is peachy. Every excuse in the book when we lose. Had an off night, we will bounce back, we are still going to make tourney.

The fans are upset and rightfully so. We lost at home to Ky. and our defense played like crap (concern). Need at all cost to win at home because the SEC is ridiculously/insanely good this year(concern) We go on the road and lose badly to a very good team but without their star player giving State fans just a little hope and at least hope that we won’t get totally dominated(concern).
And our main rival just went on the road and beat a very good bama team. We play them next(concern). Hubbard is very badly struggling(concern).

But by all means everything is ok. And we should just expect our team to play like crap and barely squeeze into the tourney and lose the first round. We should never be angry at any of our sports because we are never in the hunt to best in this league. But us fans should just accept mediocrity, the MSU way.

Multiple things can be true at once and no one ever wants to acknowledge that.

Of course it’s frustrating that we got boat raced. Especially given that Broome was out. I thought we might have a chance to steal one and instead we played our worst game of the year. That sucks when you have a team ranked in the Top 15.

I think it’s also disingenuous to act like our season is ruined now based off one bad game on the road. We are better than we played last night, there is zero question about that. Our previous results back that up. We are still 14-3 with a Top 20 NET and our two conference losses are to Top 10 teams, one of which was an extremely competitive game:

We need to get it back together and win a couple of these other big games coming up. We also need to get healthy. But if we play well we still have a ton of winnable games, including several winnable games against other highly ranked teams. This one went sideways, but I’d be surprised if it’s not a bit of an outlier for us this year.

Yep that’s the typical Mississippi State fan. Can’t wait for us to lose so you can schitt on the team and say we’re terrible, our best player is a bum, our coach needs replacing, etc. The first 15 games of the season don’t matter. We’re done. NIT team for sure. Jans should be replaced. Its pathetic. Who cares that we beat Pitt by 30, ran Memphis off their home floor and have four quad 1 wins. The season is over. On to baseball. Sometimes teams have bad nights. Kentucky lost by 20 to a mediocre Ohio State team. Tennessee lost by 30 to Florida, who just lost at home to Missouri last night. I’m not going to judge our entire season on a 22-point loss on the road to the number 1 team in the country.

And Ole Miss got blown out by Memphis a week after we beat them by 20 plus. I'm sure their fans had concerns too, but now look at them. It's a long season and there are still 2 months left. Teams have ups and downs. The overreaction is the point of this entire thread.
