In the '07 post season, Polk looked like a coach that was coaching for W's instead of coaching to build anybody's character.

pitches our way to SECT title in 1990. Not as huge historically as Burke Masters' GS, but one I'll always remember.

For me, it was the Mayor's Trophy Game in 1990. A lot of it had to do with the fact that my Dad took me, to be honest, but the other part of it was Polk got ejected and it took about 10 minutes to get him off of the field. It was the best manager ejection that I have ever seen in person- and it happened right in front of me and my Dad. I think it was a bang-bang play at first and the umpire screwed us. But, anyway Polk comes out of the dugout and argues balls and strikes with the home plate umpire first and then goes out to first and gets thrown out not one, but two times. The funny thing was the first time he got ejected, he just screamed at the umpire WHAT!?! and just went off on the guy. He almost had the umpire halfway up the RF line by the time he was done. It was gold.

Oh, State won 4-1. The one run that Ole Miss scored was indirectly because of that call at first.

winning at Hoover a few years ago as the last team in on the last day of the regular season. Me and my dad had tickets for the entire tourney whether State went or not and just so happened that the baseball gods shined down upon us for those 4 days. Too many others that run a close race with each other. Sure wish there were some highlights from the 90s...anybody???

My memory is a little fuzzy so I can't remember dates and, frankly, some of the facts may be different than I actually remember them but here are mine: my dad taking my brother and me to a Saturday double-header in the early 80s. It was my first game and a big deal. Harold Myles pitched and we sat right behind home plate in the old chairbacks...Will, Raffy, Thigpen, and Brantley...Masters grand slam...watching Frank Thomas play for Auburn...Pete Young coming in to close all covered in dirt....Bobby Reed shutting LSU down and breaking the attendance record...Jody Hurst hitting one into the American flag in center field...Raffo homering in 3 consecutive at bats--left, center, and right on a cold mid-week game...taking my daughters to their first game at the SR last year and sweating like I have never sweated before.

Big Ben McDonald on the mound. We win 1-0 on John Cohen HR that just barely gets over the fence.
There were like 15,000 people there, couldn't see left field for the smoke. I had just turned in my 4th year architecture project and hadn't slept in 3 days, so I hope I'm remebering this right.

Same here. Burke Masters walk off was as big as it gets but taking my daughter to Dudy Noble for the first time and watching both days of the SR with her is something I'll never forget.

I think it was 1985, regional at Dudy Noble, against Michigan I believe. Clark and Palmerio...back to back homeruns.

During a Science Fair(?) at The Hump, a few of us snuck over to see what was going on at the diamond. Coach Polk comes up, smoking his stogie, wasn't mad or anything. Politely told us that we didn't need to be there. Even then, I was star-struck. I had something to write on and a pen and asked for an autograph. He obliged.

But it's still second place to the birthday game in '85.

AA - third place would be last year's regional

Certainly the Master's slam has to be up there (may have to listen to it again tonight). Beatin' Petey Incagvilia's arse in Omaha was nice in 85. Beating CSF in '79 with (I think) a complete game from Kenny Kurz was great. Staying up til 2-3 AM watching us beat UPig in 85 was also good (anybody remember the two controversial calls in that game?). Somebody else mentioned the Michigan game in 85 (didn't they beat our arse on Sunday to extend to Monday?). Barry Larkin was on that team I believe.

Really enjoyed winning the SECT the year I graduated (as a 6 seed). Beat UG in the 9th (down 4?), beat UF the day I graduated, not sure what happened on Saturday, & beat LUS on Sunday (Belle hit the longest single ever in an SEC game?).

On a losing note, getting wasted by Schiraldi & Clemens in 83 was remarkable. Also Gene Morgan cruising til he got hit in 85 (damn those Longhorns). Dave Magadan going absolutely nuts (starting with the SECT in Starkville) was also something to behold (lost in CWS championship to Texas). Also remember getting owned by a couple of junk ball pitches (CSF in late 80s or 90 & UNC during same time frame).

BJ Wallace striking out batter after batter in the regional in Starkville and then heading back to College Station for the party and taking on UCLA in water volleyball in the pool. We partied so hard that weekend. I think we scared Scott Ross on that Saturday we drank so much. I hate we lost, but that was a fun damn regional

Sorry SWFL Dawg but we won the Sunday night game 1- 0. It was on ESPN back when they had Sunday night college baseball. We split on Saturday, when McDonald pitched. Cohen Homered off of Russ Springer to left center field as we won 1-0. Another interesting tidbit from that game, LSU would have gone up 1-0 but Keith Osik rounded third and ran right into third base coach Smoke Laval and then was tagged out as he headed back to third.

As Georgia Head Coach, and all the Mississippi State fans booing him. Sorta a sense of irony, especially after everybody was all happy when he came back a year later.

That weekend jogged my memory of an lsu series over in Baton Rouge. I believe we were #1 and lsu #2 in the country. My buddies and I squeezed into an overflow crowd at Alex's Box for the Sat DH. We won both games 4-3 and I think Cohen had a monster day. The next day we got killed and my buddies almost fought the lsu crowd that was mouthing off. Fun stuff.

Mine would have to be several years ago when we went into the final weekend before the SECtourney and we had to sweep om to advance to the tourney and also to keep them from going to the SECT. Sweeping them is always special, but this was extra special.

I believe Barry Larkin and Chris Sabbo were both on that Michigan team. My college roommate's uncle played on that Michigan team as well.

I guess I am getting too old.

Kind of funny how most of my single item memories happen away from Dudy Noble. Most of my Dudy Noble memories are just about the overall atmosphere at times. Winning SEC Tournament in 79 and losing the SEC Tournament in 1981 even though I hit a go ahead HR off Jeff Keener of Kentucky, who was the best relief pitcher in the SEC that year, are my dominant memories. Ole Miss series in 79 and 81. HR I hit against Alabama off a lefty named Smithson that went way over the flag pole. are the few specifics I still remember.

Most of my personal big things, and many team big things, happened on the road, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Arizona, Omaha, Smith Wills, Regionals.

I've always said bringing him back was a huge mistake. When they announced that Polk was coming back, I launched into a profanity laced tirade in front of my Mother- which I never do.

travis chapman's clutch hit in the 2000 regional to tie it in the eighth against ndame. I wouldn't point this out, but that is the last hitter we had that could hit for power and average, and always came through.

there are many of us that remember your great moments, albeit from the radio. Listening to Ellis during games taking about Del Bender, You, Mike Kelly, Rick Dixon...are some of my earliest memories...I remember you guys in a regional, I want to say out in Texas?? and on the radio all you can hear as we are about to win it is the crowd chanting "Omaha, Omaha, Omaha"...great times as kid for me...
