Ask Barry: Beaver Stadium Renovation – BARRY FENCHAK

"Based on the forecasts (pro-forma statements) the administration used to support the break-even argument, it’s difficult to see where her statement is accurate. Their calculations were based on:

  • Athletics’ operating expenses, which have increased by 6.5% per year over the last decade, would immediately and permanently drop to 2.5% per year for the next 30 years
  • No new capital projects would be undertaken by Athletics over the next 30 years
Based on the fact that there are $50 million of approved but not yet funded Athletics projects and that other major projects like the Natatorium renovation are in the advanced planning stages, and that even a reduction of operating expenses to 4.5% seems unlikely, I feel safe in predicting it is far more likely that Athletics will develop deficits in the hundreds of millions of dollars over the next several years that will need to be paid for with non-Athletics funds."

Only renovations to the existing natatorium? No new natatorium? That’s not a big enough expense for us and is disappointing.

Brenneman and Hack are at the helm!
I've got a lot of respect for these 2 guys - especially Hack. O'Brien promised them and their families he would stay at psu for their 4 years if they kept their commitments. Both of them had plenty of opportunities to go to other big-time programs.

They kept their commitments and then Obrien bolted 2 years later. In addition, Hack got the crap beat out of himself physically playing behind that high school offensive line. Finally, I don't think he and CJF were on the best of terms.

Yet, he has circled back and is a very strong supporter of the psu program. Good guys.

Spend $700M today to maybe make $44M 30 years from now? What a brilliant justification!

That’s gaslighting / overt lying equivalent to what one normally expects out of Washington DC.

PSU’s administration must think PSU alumni are as dumb as the general populous. 🙄

A guy making $10M a year working for a program that has $200M in annual revenues asking the general public (average salary $60k) for money to pay players. Players that already receive well over $100k a year in annual benefits and lead incredibly privileged lives enjoyed by only the top 1% of society. You can't make this **** up. College football is so flawed, like look in the mirror once in a while and realize how stupid you look. I'm at the point where I'm personally insulted by these pleas for donations. What's next, Sally Struthers infomercials showing the destitute of these poor, suffering athletes featuring Sarah MacLachlan music?

What's next? Ali Krieger hittin' us up to help pay for the stadium renovations. Weren't you impressed by her statement to the Board in support of the project? Break out the check books, motherfu@xers.
