This guy has been one of the best players in the league so far this year and should definitely be in Dallas for the all star break. What a beast

and I'm not a Grizzlies fan. Call him a thug if you will, but he's one of the best players in the league.

...but that guy has been nothing but good on and off the court since he has been here. Hopefully he can keep it up. I do know his game has changed since he showed up in Memphis

I do remember that when he was first traded here, Geoff and Gary had a Portland beat writer on to talk about him, and th eguy said for the most part Zach was a follower, and he was obviously surrounded by a bunch of knuckle heads in NY and Portland. Maybe not having some of those guys around has somewhat helped change his attitude. Whatever it is, i hope he keeps it up

I agree. If it is his reputation keeping him from the ballot, then Rasheed Wallace would not have been an All Star 4 times.

but it amazes me how many sportswriters bashed the Grizz organization for making this deal during the summer. In fact, there was someone(maybe Chad Ford) who said that Memphis had the second worst offseason of all teams in the NBA. There was apparently no logic to making the moves that they made. I would have thought that at least one or two of those guys would have the stones to come back now and at least pat the Grizz on the back, but things are eerily silent outside of the Memphis papers.

Anyway, I'm enjoying the ride right now but there are going to some really interesting questions to be answered over the remainder of the season and this offseason.

1. What do you offer Rudy in terms of an extention? If someone goes crazy and offers him $14M or more elsewhere, do the Grizz match? If not, who do they replace him with?

2. Will Conley continue to develop into a true starting NBA PG? Regardless, do you go ahead and draft another PG with a high pick as insurance?

3. Do you go ahead and extend Gasol this offseason? How much?

4. With 3 1st round picks in the draft, who do you go after or do you package some of them in a trade?

Should be a very interesting offseason. I really hope this doesn't happen, but my fear is that Heisley lets Rudy walk, doesn't extend Gasol yet with some lame excuse about wanting to wait til the following season to get a better idea of the market, and then says that the three rookies will fill the holes that the team had. Basically, he'll suck the excitement write back out of the fans that was created during a nice run from this season. We shall see...

I wish white chocolate would have choke slammed Geoff Calkins back in the day when Calkins kept giving him ****. I think he near beat his *** in the locker room after a loss one night where Calkins kept pressing him. Anyhow, you're right, the local media will constantly tear down everything the Grizzlies do. You can tell they are just hoping the Griz start losing again so they can print their (most likely, already written) "I told you so" articles.

I still don't know why they got so much **** for picking up Z-bo in the offseason. They had the cap space and a way to get a proven 20/10 guy into the starting lineup. He addressed a huge need for the Griz. While the national media praises the move, the only thing you get from the Memphis media is the genes page-esque response of "he's a thug", "he has a history", "I heard he's a scientologist", etc. etc. etc. It's as if they didn't want the Grizzlies to improve the roster by making a good move.

Really, it's just an extension of the city's general outlook on everything in life. There is a constant "we can't do anything right, everything sucks" attitude that's present throughout the city. A lot of it is probably merited considering the devil himself, Willie Herenton, ran the place for so many years. It's not surprise that his negative attitude brought everyone else down and we still have the sour taste left in our mouth.

Bottom line, it's just damn sad that the city hasn't gotten behind the Grizzlies yet. They have a world class facility in the FedEx forum and it appears that Wallace's strategy of building a nucleus of young talent and developing them is paying off. They are a very exciting basketball team to watch and it's cheap as hell to buy a ticket. If Memphis can consistently sell out the Forum for Tigers games against mickey mouse teams like Austin Peay, then there is absolutely no reason the Forum shouldn't be filled up for Griz games where you can see the best basketball players in the world. The city has one good thing going for it, and it's too stupid to even realize it.

Regarding Rudy, I read earlier that they offered him 5yr/$50M and he turned it down right at the deadline. There are a boatload of FA's next year. Does that mean he wmay not get the offer he is hoping for and we can match it or will someone who can't get the player(s) they targeted go nuts and throw him a max deal to try and save face?

The thing about "Ripping the Grizz" that bothers me is that writers still think we got it handed to us in the Pau deal. Yeah they won a ring, congrats. They didn't need much. We got our stud center and two 1st round picks (Darrell Arhtur and next year's). People say this summer's draft has a ton of talent. We should have really good players at the end of the 1st round with the picks from Denver and LA. Marc is the Glue. Heisley better not screw up with him. I'm ready for Arthur to get back in the rotation too.

I've been watching NBA Gametime alot on NBA-TV. Those guys in studio have been giving big props to the Grizz. OJ even made it on ArenaCam during the postgame after we took care of the Cavs a couple of weeks back.

I thought that since we basically got Z-bo for Darko was good value. I'm blown away with how good he's meshed. He and Marc are as agood a 4/5 as there is in the league.

It's obvious the bench scoring is an issue. Mike Miller is in his last year of his current deal up in DC. Would you like to see them bring him back next summer for some punch off the bench? I think I may. We can see if he can still stroke it on Monday, the game against the wizards is on NBA-TV.

Sums it up perfectly, and the JWill/Calkins locker room almost throwdown was awesome and second only to Prime Time dumping the ice water on McCarver.
