The most ridiculous penalty is the new celebration penalty. Bowling Green DE makes a sack. Does the Sean Merriman thing and gets a penalty. You can show no emotion on the field I guess.

but when a defensive player wipes his hand across the face mask and never grips it at all he shouldn't cause his team to be penalized for 15 yards as if he tried to behead the offensive player. I remember many plays where going through a blocker and trying to make a play just catching a finger on the face mask was unavoidable.

ECU grabbed and pulled on the facemask. Clearly a 15-yard penalty, even under the old rules.

Grabbing the facemask and immediately letting go without pulling, twisting or turning is not a foul.

pure stupidity.... not saying the DE didn't screw up but damn... it was after the damn play for cyring out loud.. sure helped us out vs memphis about 10 years ago or so in the liberty bowl...
