The Nick E thing is another example of poor coaching by Beamer

If Beamer knew Nick was only going to play one half, and it appears he did know that, he should not have allowed him to go on the trip with the team. He should have told him to clean out his locker because he had quit the team.

Beamer has sent a message to the rest of the team that if a player is a "good" player, the player can dictate to the coach when he will be available to play. More and more, it appears that Shane wants to be liked by the players more than he wants to be respected by them. His absurd emotional displays on the sideline during games and his going along with a player quitting in the middle of a game point to a coach who will never have the full respect of the team. He is trying way too hard to be the players' buddy when he needs to be their coach and leader.

Other than Saban, can you name a handful of coaches that aren't the players' buddy? It's the culture of college football now. These kids are just one year rentals now. The NIL and Transfer Portal has forever change the face of college sports.

if he told him it was just prior to the game.. not anytime prior. this is a stupid post.
If a player tells the coach during pregame warmups that he is not going to play in the second half, the coach should send him back to the locker room to take off his uniform and put on street clothes. Letting the coach know you are going to quit the team in a couple hours doesn't change the principle.

The fact of the matter is, Nick E. and Beamer could give a crap what any of us think. These kids with star talent couldn’t care less about the CAROLINA name on the jersey, it’s strictly about the next level and money.

I would not blame Beamer. He did everything he could to win the game. It`s too bad a few of our best players chose not to do everything to win the game(2 opt outs and a half-game player). Especially a kid from Columbia - I don`t know how he could look any player or coach in the eye after that BS. Saw one article that said that didn`t cost us the game. How in the hell can anyone say that,. ONE PLAY could have made the difference. Nobody knows what what have happened if they had all played, and played the whole game. I`m pretty confident that we would be 10-3, on a 7 game winning streak, instead of 9-4, ending the season with a sour taste in our mouths and letting the SOB Bielema walk away with that SE grin on his face. What a blanking shame.

Do some research, Jack. Beamer didn't know until he noticed #7 wasn't on the field during the first defensive series. He then told him to take a hike, as he should have!

Of course, the opt-outs contributed to the loss. However, I think inefficient special teams (FG Kicker), Chasing points due to the inefficient special teams, and a crucial False Start on a 2nd and Goal cost us more.

Is this the same player talking smack to Juice about transferring to Ole Miss?

Having Rocket’s presence would have helped, but I am not sure he would have been 100%. Kennard helps, but in all honesty, our defense hasn’t gotten much pressure since we played Mizzou.

We decided to throw the ball more than run. I will not say that it was coaching input, but LS did not play his style of football (as several on here have mentioned). Herrera is the worst K we’ve had in a while. And I know he gets some guff about it, but I didn’t mind the ST attempt at a TD. I just wished it would have looked like we were going to attempt the kick. Even still, throw the ball a little further and Boogie scores. Officiating was strange mostly their way, but I do believe they did not fumble into the endzone.

in the end, still had a chance and didn’t make enough plays.

What all of us need to remember is that Nick was loyal for the most part. He could have taken the bag (like Xzavier McCleod) and be playing in the CFP right now. He
made a bad decision IMO, but he is a future 1st Round Pick and wanted to stunt a little bit like Cam Ward. It was a child-like decision. Kids tend to want to do what they see their friends do. If they made responsible decisions all the time, there would be no room to grow. The decision is annoying, but he was a major reason in our 9-3 season. He made the play that should have gotten us into the CFP. Unfortunately, the refs in the LSU game took it from us. So, I choose forgiveness in this situation. Being upset at this kid does nothing for me. I wish him the best. Hope he gets drafted in the 1st Round and has a meaningful NFL career. He gave us 3 productive years. Started from Day One. He gets a mulligan on this one in my mind.

If you were making over 16 GRAND A DAY, would you care what anyone on the net said about you?

I don’t like the opt outs, but for some I get it. What I have the biggest issue with is the half part. Play, or don’t.

I work with kids for a living. I just hate that they see some of the guys they look up not finish what they start. Especially when you play a half….there is absolutely no good reason to decide you aren’t going to play in the second half.

I somewhat agree with you here. And unfortunately for us that's the real problem.

Nick helped us get there. I appreciate him

I somewhat agree with you here. And unfortunately for all of us that's the real problem. Coach Beamer and Staff have done a fine job Imho.

Somehow we need to convince some or most of our players that when they play football for the University of South Carolina this Ideal is Bigger than any of them and us.

This is what the most successful College Programs Convey to their players. This is no way criticism of Coach Beamer and his program. I think he has us on the right track and going in the right direction. He deserves our support. For someone who has been a Gamecock fan for nearly a Half Century I have seen progress with him. Some of us need to be more patient with him.
Coaching has evolved through the years. It isn't the same job it used to be.

Mitch Jeter comes to mind
Kid had been hurt all year for ND. He was poached from us by Marcus Freeman and ND. Although he played against UGA in the Sugar Bowl. Hoping they would lose the Sugar Bowl.

I hope this is true. But hasn't Crawford been wrong a lot? Didn't he write for FitsNews? He's one of those guys who has to break the story even if it's not the story.
