The only position that I’m concerned with in spring is LB. The last couple of years our run defense was horrible because of that position for the most part. Edge and RB isn’t concerning considering we bring back Jordan, Dawkins, Tonka, and Desmond. RB isn’t a position we need to be elite to win ball games at a high level, just look at our last three games. It won’t be no drop off at DB either.

Our DL has gotten pushed around the last 2 years, with the exception of Pickens last year. It wasn't just the LB, it was the entire front 7 that was terrible against the run. Getting Kaba back from injury will be big. I'm hoping Blanton takes a big step forward. I wouldn't be surprised to see Pup either starting, or getting significant PT from the start. Deebo showed some promise. I'm less concerned about LB than I am DE/RB.

I'm really concerned about RB. You can't survive an SEC schedule without being able to run.

Mario will be surprisingly competent at RB is my prediction.

I hope so. He looks the part physically. But the reality is he's a D-II transfer. Doesn't mean it can't happen, but it would definitely be a hidden gem discovery.

Joyner as well. He has been productive no matter where they put him. Team player!

I like Dak, but whenever you're talking about moving a WR who was previously a QB to play RB, that's never great.

RB isn’t a position that’s hard to adapt to when you move up from high school to college and to pro. That’s why you see FR/Rookie RB being ahead in term of playing time. But I also don’t believe you need to have a great rushing attacking to be a great college team. You can dress up pass plays to be your run play as well. We have a good enough receiver core and QB that can give us a good passing attack. LB concern me because for the last two years they’ve been taking wrong angles and sometimes too slow. I do believe our coaches are good developers though. But if it was one position that scares me it’s LB.

I can agree with that. I just saw 2020 UF make it to the SEC championship game without running the ball. That was an all SEC schedule. They got away with it because their passing game was elite

You forgot the asterisk beside 2020. 😂

Is that how the championship teams do it? You can be pretty good, win more than you lose, but the teams that distance themselves aren't camouflaging deficiencies.

It's very difficult. Many a RB has been unable to transition b/c they don't play well without the ball.
