The pizza threads below got me thinking about Strombolis.

Back in the late 80's early 90's, there was a place in Pleasant Gap where the Uni-mart is now. (Few miles from State College) The place was called Phil's Pizza. His strombolis were a sight to behold. They were the biggest thing you have ever seen. A medium stromboli would not fit sideways through the door. It took 2 extra large pizza boxes together to hold the large Stromboli. Phil used the best meats, and best cheeses. A single slice of his pizza was actually 1/4 of a pizza. Many people made the mistake of ordering 2 slices thinking they were regular sized slices. He took pride in the quality that he put out. (And size) He eventually opened a second place outside of Milheim, but his wife divorced him, and he closed down everything. I never knew what happened to Phil after that until I saw his obituary a couple of years ago. He had been working at the Creamery at Penn State.

I’ve got a place in Star Valley Ranch about an hour from Jackson on the Idaho border. We use it to ski in the winter and spend the summertime there

Excellent sir.

Good for you.

I will accept a trout fishing invitation at any time from you.

+ a weekend in your winter wonderland!

If you get to the York area, specifically Red Lion, Central pizza has ALWAYS been my favorite. Second is in East York at Marino’s Pizza on E. Market across from Hoss’s
