The problem with our team is very simple....

In 2010, our TOP averaged 31:32 per game. So far this year our average TOP is 26:51. To me, that is on the offense. Yeah, I know some of that is the defense stopping the other team and getting the ball back, but we have not been able to put together those 9,10,11+ play drives this year like we did last year. How many 3 and outs were there in the last two games? I think there were 10 or 11 in the La Tech game alone. Simple fact; you keep the other team's offense off the field and there is less opportunity for them to score. Whether this comes down to poor play calling or lack of talent/depth or combination, I don't know, but TOP is definitely playing a part in our lackluster results thus far.

Yeah, we scored points on 3 of Clausell's 6 possessions, would've been 4-6 if Relf pitches or gets in on the last play. We scored on 2 of the 7 possessions Carmon finished, with three 3 and outs and a 6 and out (Carmon doesn't get credit for the defensive score, but maybe he does in your book). The shortest drive w/ Clausell in the game was a 9 play drive, so we moved the ball consistently better. The offense scored 14 points on Carmon's 7 possessions, and 13 on Clausell's 6 (would be 20 points if not for a fluke)<div>
</div><div>Carmon's probably better and more physical, and that's why he's starting, but just like you and everyone agreed before the season, the LT in our offense isn't as important as everyone makes it out to be and the points we score with either in there we'll be very similar. </div><div>
</div><div>Defense on the other hand is the clear difference. We'll probably end up averaging close to the same amount of points on offense as we did last year in SEC play, but we'll give up alot more

Looking like a lost puppy out there Saturday night. He was backing up into coverage in the flats onmultiple plays after the ball was handed off to the running back. First of all, there were hardly ever any WR's/RB's in the flats when he dropped, and secondly, he continued to drop back after the RB was hitting the hole. This is partly the coaches fault, but as a linebacker, you should be able to tell that the ball has now been handed to the RB, and to go after the ball carrier. He was also bird-dogging on almost every play he was around and never seemed to have any feel whatsoever for what La Tech was doing offensively. I honestly do not see why he is even on the field. He is not a SEC linebacker. He plays hard, but he has no business being on the field. Only time he made tackles the other night was when the ball carrier ran into him and he hung on for dear life. I cringe every time I see him out there. Do we not have anybody else who can play? Id much rather see us play 2 LB's and add a hard hitting DB (ie Whitley) in the boxor another hybrid D Lineman that can do something. Somebody with a nose for the football, please anybody. We have got to have somebody on our roster that is better. If Camcontinues to get a majority of the snaps at one of our LB positions, we will continue to get ripped a new one on defense, because it's almost as if we are playing with 10 or 10.5 defenders.

Wouldn't such a gentlemanly fella also kneel the ball if we were unsuccessful in trying to score?

We came out flat against Auburn , caught up and then proceeded to let Malzahn make us look like fools. Then at the end of the game Mullen laid a giant turd for coaching/clock management. This ain`t all because of one 17ing injury.....injuries happen and we`ve got a high dollar coach whose paid to find ways to overcome them WHEN POSSIBLE. Carmon`s injury will affect us but we`re not 2-2 because of it.

TOP doesn't mean much. What is really key is the number of plays we have versus the number of plays our opponent has. Nothing takes more out of a defensive lineman than rushing the passer but, of course, if its an incomplete pass it stops the clock which shortens TOP for that drive. Now, that being said, we are probably having more plays run on us than we run on our opponent but I KNOW when you are snapping the ball with 20 seconds still on the play clock like we are then our TOP is going to be artificially shortened.

we did not know Sherrod was going to leave. We couldn't develop a JUCO over 2 year period? You cannot let a position as valuable as that to have to be replaced with a converted Defensive Tackle. That's crazy.

</div><div>but this season changed when Carmon went down against Auburn. If Carmon doesnt get hurt- we beat Auburn. End of story. He went down and the offense went into a flux trying to figure out what we could run with Clausell in the game- especially after Clausell got in the way of the throwback to Ralph that would have gone for big yards.</div><div>

This is simply not true. Go back and look at the replay. The ball would have bounced to the back. It hit Clausell at almost the knees and he was several feet from the intended target.
