No not Julian Fleming. I'm glad Julian is healthy enough to play and getting his reps. However, he would not have been a difference maker at PSU.
The player that would have impressed is Cal Haladay. He didn't even have a PSU offer. I believe he was Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week twice this year.

I got to referee a bunch of games that Haladay played in. As an Umpire with the linebackers I got to interact and talk with him quite a bit. Great kid from a Penn State family.....

I'm a Southern Alum class of '68. Still stay in touch with a few teammates. In fact 2 of them I believe still announce the games.
This kid would have been a great fit in our LB room. I wonder how happy he is in that mess out there?

IDK....but if I was Diaz I'd welcome him with open arms. Kid has a nose for the ball. I reffed for 25 years, and he put the hardest hit I've ever seen on a kid from S Williamsport.

Is Ed Haladay his grandfather?

It's funny that he wasn't that highly rated. According to 247 the Michigan schools were by far his best offers. I'm wondering if he had some academic issues to work out. Who knows. But for my money, he is far and away the best success story (D1 football) to come out of SCA.

No idea. I think that's kind of a Catawissa common family name. I had a Haladay when I coached there for one terrible year (1971). He wasn't a college prospect....LOL

Any idea whether PSU took a look at him? Possible transfer? Looks like a good player.

FIRE. FRANKLIN. o_O

Franklin is vastly underpaid. Not even in the top 12.

Franklin makes $8mm p.a.

Shaw's base is about $6.5mm.

PSU looked at him, but never offered. If I recall correctly, the only LBers that PSU took in the 2020 class were Curtis Jacobs (OLB) and Tyler Elsdon (ILB). Elsdon was 6-2, 236 lbs. coming out of high school. Cal Haladay was 6-0, 200 lbs. I'm pretty sure that every recruiting service had Elsdon rated as the higher ILB of the two.

The below article from 2019 (a month after Haladay verballed to MSU) gives some (not all) of the details of his recruitment.

His weight was the reason. But, the kid wrestled. You knew he’d put on 15-20 lbs once he quit rasslin. I thought Cal was a better player in high school than Tyler. And, still is. Can’t coach his instincts.

Jven Williams and Wyomissing come up to Danville on Friday night. Looking forward to that game.
