The thing about Ben's free throws is that

he isnt some sort of Free throw specialist.
He doesnt shoot 90+ percent like guys from back in the day.
He is...what...a 76% free throw percentage guy?

Not for nothing but the odds of him dropping 3 straight was 44%.

Best clutch performance of the basketball year, 3rd place behind AJ and Pegues though.

while he waited....what do I know, he drained them. Did he even hit the rim one time?

I was just a tad irate--it came back on with 2:35 left in OT. Would have made a great commercial for cable.

but I can't think of anybody else on our team I would've rather have had at the line than him. He's the best we got.

And I think some of the USC players were probably talking to him a little bit. Maybe I made that up. <genespage if I'm wrong>

that bumped him say "I didn't know they grew 'em so small down on the farm". After hearing that there was no way Ollie, I mean Ben, was gonna miss those FTs.

But when Mississippi State's Ben Hansbrough stepped to the free throw line Saturday in the Colonial Center, his team trailing by three with 1.1 seconds left on the clock, his thoughts weren't that big-picture.

"Two dribbles, legs, let it go. Straight on," he said.

So Hansbrough stepped up, an announced 15,093 as loud as it had been all day, and made three straight free throws.

Boom, boom and boom.

I just knew he would miss one, especially with our history of shooting free throws. That was big time clutch. I've said it before and I'll say it again, thank goodness we got Hans back.
