After a slew of mishaps United just had a fuel leak. Gordon Gekko needs to wreck this airline. Seriously this is starting to be alarming

Complex systems won't survive the competency crisis. Companies aren't allowed to hire and fire based off competency if they want those sweet ESG bucks from Blackrock and tax breaks and grant from governments so expect things to spiral harder and faster with each passing year.

My last job required me to fly 5 days a week for 15 years and I really did not think about it but now getting on a plane is one thing I will not do.

I've never loved flying, but I've never been afraid of it. Now, it's a downright miserable experience. It's like they did studies to determine what makes it the least enjoyable, and then implemented those changes. If I have to fly, I always choose Southwest, just because I feel like I get the most humane treatment from them. Now, throw into the mix questionable safety standards and I just won't do it.

Being here in SC I was a Delta guy but flying to a different city every day I was all over the country and many different airlines. Liked Southwest but never enjoyed United or Continental. When on the west coast, Alaska Airlines was better than average. Toward the end I started driving when it was reasonable to so and actually enjoyed the rural drive until hitting city traffic.

If United keeps this up they will end up like Valujet.

Profit has always been the company driver, but greed is now sacrificing quality, reputation, integrity, people, etc.
Airbus has been kicking their butt since Boeing trotted out the reconfigured 737MAX whithout full FAA approval which has had all types of issues.

I've flown a lot of different airlines. The ones in the US are not near the experience I've had in European airlines.
Lufthansa Airlines was like flying in a resort. Delta/American are like flying in a Wal-Mart

I've been out of state for a long time. When did Boeing start building airplanes in South Carolina? Is that when their problems started?

I fly a lot. Not a fan of United. I try to stick with Delta as much as I can. Going through Atlanta is great but it is efficient. I hate going through Charlotte. I always land on one side of the airport and then have to walk 10 miles to get to the other side.

United States has the reputation of being world leader in aviation. This is really embarrassing.

Wheels falling off the United States too! Horrific times.
Really, I use to think there isn’t anywhere else in the world that’s better. I have woken up and know that is not true. If I wasn’t big family oriented I would probably bail. Just being honest. Out of 270 sovereign counties there about 180 free ones. I bet more than one is better than the USA.

The Boeing news is alarming and becoming comically alarming. I've been avoiding booking on the 737 MAX series planes for several years now out of an abundance of caution.

I used to fly a lot, but post-Covid I only average maybe 15-18 flights a year. I don't see that changing any significant degree in the next few years. But I will increasingly try to avoid Boeing planes, NGL.

We've done some serious looking at Western Europe, but honestly will probably stay in Austin at least til our youngest finishes high school (he's 4).

Same here on the 737 MAX. I won't fly on one. Happy with Delta's fleet right now. I know they have some Boeing planes, but they are older models that I feel like may precede Boeings recent downturn.

Delta dusted off some of their 767s, which compared to any 737 is luxury.

There are probably folks on here with better knowledge than mine, but my understanding is that only the 787 "Dreamliner" is made in SC. Boeing has other manufacturing facilities in Everett and Renton, WA, as well as California. I believe the most famous safety issues concern the 737-Max, which is manufactured at the Renton facility. So, to the extent Boeing has problems, it's not the result of some of its manufacturing being moved to Charleston.

The silenced whistle blower was referring to problems with the Dreamliner that is produced here.

Diversity makes us stronger. Unfortunately, it also makes everything it touches lower quality. We are seeing the end results of Boeing committing to a more diverse workforce.

But your question was if their problems started when they began building some planes in South Carolina. The answer is clearly "no."
