Showalter HC
Tommy remains
Paddy Mac returns as PC.

I also heard that Casey is nibbling at the bait. cork hasnt sunk, but it is jiggling.

....seriously, I don't know that there has ever been a mroe consensus candidate for any head coaching job in any sport than Pat Casey. The only people that don't want him are KB21 and Coach34, and if those guys are against it, it's probably a pretty damn good idea.

I think Raffo is a good hitting coach. And I'm also not one to think our recruiting has sucked, either, although I'd like to see more well known guys get recruited instead of camp wonders.

How can you think our recruiting hasnt been bad? Look at this team, look at the pitching staff. The talent is NOT THERE. We havent recruited well at all.

has MSU had during Polk's second tour. I know we've had very, very few in the top 10 rounds. Even most of the juniors we've lost have been in the middle rounds. That either says our recruiting has been below par or our players aren't developing. Either way it doesn't speak well of the current staff. Weatherford this year looks to be a pretty good prospect (assuming the pros aren't scared off by his arm problems) but the rest of the pitching staff has been really bad.

I was told yesterday that Raffo would not hang around if he does not get the position. I know they are sprucing up the house to make sure it's ready for the market either way. Get the job get a bigger house. Dont get the job and they'll move. Anything can happen!

Personally I hope this does not play out. All due respect to Show but its a college game and I really dont know if I trust that MLB to NCAA change.

they just aren't getting ANY coaching. Polk said himself he doesn't have the energy to give them the coaching they needed. If our players had been properly developed and coached, we could seriously cut down on the lazy attitudes, laggin around, injuries, etc.

Think about this lineup, had they actually progressed well.

P-Matt Lea, Aaron Weatherford, Justin Pigott
RP-Tyler Whitney, Ricky Bowen, Greg Houston, John Lalor, Chad Crosswhite
C-Cody Freeman
1B-Tyler Moore
2B-Brandon Turner
SS-Russ Sneed
3B-Connor Powers
LF-Jason Nappi
CF-Grant Hogue
RF-Ryan Collins

Without stupid *** injuries, that's a pretty talented lineup. And the awesome part is, we can probably do ALOT better. Most of those guys have shown that they can roll in a certain situation. But there's something 17-ed up going on with them. These injuries are eerie.

To me that would be as likely as hiring Adam Piatt as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the baseball team.

And I am going to start crying, too. This is SSDD. We have a chance to hire a proven college coach and we are bringing in Showalter? Nothing aGAINst Buck; he is a good ambassador for the University, but how does his experience trump Steve Smith, Dan McDonnell or John Cohen? Hell, he may try to get us to wear cotton uniforms. If we hire Buck, bring back Paddy Mac and retain Raffo, then we might as well keep Polk. Onward and upward!

Not that anymore damage could be done to the Short bus... Just like the baseball program that thing needs a full overhaul. It is just a plank of wood on top of the bus now all the rest was ripped off or fallen off.. and that was before the disaster of the the season began.

been hearing it for several weeks from different people that he is really interested. I have called ******** each time I heard it. Also heard from a parent of one of Kinnison's players and again from a relative of Kinnison's that he had been approached and said no thanks.

that would rank right behind raffo in disappointing. Plus, if it was going to happen, it probably already would've been announced (or will be soon) b/c Mac is not at a college job.

I didn't want Polk back the second time after he quit us in 97 and I sure don't want a guy back that quit us in 01 to go to another league school. Once a guy quits on you, there is rarely ever a good reason to take them back. Besides that, if we do a proper search we should be able to do better anyway.

that quit on you after you set him up with the job on a silver platter in the first place? No way I would be in favor of that. As was stated above, that situation would only be slightly better than Raffo.

I can hear his press conference...."I love Mississippi State so much, and I made a mistake, and I am thankful for the opportunity to come home to the place that I love more than anywhere on earth" then he would go into his famous "as the plan unfolds" routine and talk about "maximal effortization".

At which time you would hear a collective Puke from everyone who played for him at State.

I dont know where you see much talent on that pitching staff at all besides Weatherford. Lea is a moot point.

Pigott and Lalor- not SEC weekend starters. I know Pigott had a good run at the end of last season.

whitney - over 10 ERA

Bowen - 7.61

Houston - 7.36

Crosswhite - 9.96

So, Raffo's recruiting has been horrendous for the most part.
